Requirements

Six months of previous job-related experience, as determined by management.
Read kitchen preparation books and manuals as needed to prepare food recipes.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Use restaurant equipment, including convection ovens, grills, fryers, smokers, steam tables, and microwaves.
Hold a Food Handler’s Permit where applicable.
Stand for long periods and frequently walk, push, pull, lift, cut, carry, kneel, or stoop; occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and, on occasion, up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

Maintain efficient food flow in the kitchen while meeting food safety and sanitation standards.
Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables and side items.
Clean, cut, prepare, and smoke meats and poultry.
Measure food weights and portion sizes accurately.
Carry pans, containers, and trays of food between work stations, smokers, and refrigerators.
Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils; segregate and remove garbage at shift change or as needed; and steam-clean or hose garbage containers.
Use cleaning products safely according to their instructions.
Follow safety procedures when using kitchen supplies and equipment throughout the shift.
Assume other responsibilities or tasks as needed, including tasks outside the usual duties.

Description

General Summary: Assists Kitchen Manager in preparing food by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for the efficient flow of food in the kitchen while maintaining levels of food safety and sanitation to Rib Crib standards.
Washes, peels, cuts and prepares vegetables and side items.
Cleans, cuts, prepares and smokes meats and poultry.
Knows how to correctly measure food weights and portion sizes.
Carries pans, containers, and trays of food to and from work stations, smokers and refrigerators.
Cleans work areas, equipment, and utensils, segregates and removes garbage at shift change or when necessary, and steam cleans or hoses garbage containers.
Knowledgeable in the use of cleaning products and how to use them safely according to instructions.
Observes safety procedures with regards to the use of kitchen supplies and equipment both correctly and safely throughout the shift.
Demonstrates a willingness to assume any responsibility or perform any task (“shift to assist”) regardless of nature to demonstrate that teamwork is part of the operating culture. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Capable of reading kitchen prep books and manuals as required to prepare food recipes.
Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
Proficient use of restaurant equipment including but not limited to such things as convection ovens, grills, fryers, smokers, steam tables, microwaves, etc.

Education & Experience: Six months previous job-related experience as determined by management. Certifications/Licenses: Food Handler’s Permit where applicable.

Physical & Mental Requirements: • Position requires the employee to perform most of the work from a standing position for long periods of time frequently walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, cutting, carrying, kneeling, or stooping. • Work may occasionally involve periods of lifting up to 30 pounds with occasional lifting not to exceed 80 pounds.
