  • Provide drug information and education to healthcare teams, pharmacy staff, patients, and the community, and educate pharmacy staff, students, and residents where applicable.
  • Review medication orders for appropriateness and completeness using patient information such as age, height, weight, diagnosis, allergies, and laboratory values; follow committee directives on therapeutic substitutions and formulary management.
  • Apply continuous quality improvement principles, contribute them to facility- and system-based projects, collect and document data, track medication errors and adverse drug events, participate in drug use evaluations, and support facility-level medication safety oversight.
  • Participate in local and system-based committees, communicate with stakeholders, and develop drug-related patient-care practices in the specialty at institutional and system levels.

  • Meet ASHP preceptor qualifications and serve as a primary preceptor to residents where applicable; when needed, serve as Program Director for the institution's Pharmacy Practice Residency Program.
  • Deliver pharmaceutical care using the medication-use process, assess patient status and needs, and document ongoing evaluation of care and patient outcomes.
  • Oversee pharmacy technicians' activities, coordinate workflow, and check medications before dispensing.
  • Follow local, state, and federal laws governing pharmacy practice.
  • Support the Pediatric Oncology program by developing oncology care plans and investigating drug processes in partnership with the Pediatric Oncology Care Team and staff pharmacists.
