Venture Global's 16 gas power units deal ties GE Vernova deeper into AI data centre power

Venture Global has signed multi-year frame agreements with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes for up to 16 new gas-fired power island units, each rated at 720MW, plus grid equipment. The units will supply behind-the-meter power for its LNG facilities and potential AI data centres without drawing on public grids. The deal ties GE Vernova's gas turbines and grid hardware to privately controlled industrial networks rather than regulated utilities. It deepens the company's exposure to energy-hungry AI computing. GE Vernova expects 125GW under contract by 2026. Risks include weaker European demand, wind losses, tariffs, restructuring costs, and project delays. Analysts' bullish case sees 2029 revenue of $64.7 billion and earnings of $10.7 billion. A more cautious view puts them at $57.8 billion and $6.3 billion.

GE Vernova up 600% since spin-off, with a $176B backlog: is the dip a buying chance?

GE Vernova's shares have risen nearly 600% since the company was spun off from GE Aerospace in 2024, driven by demand for electricity from artificial intelligence data centres. The stock has been in a lull since April. In the second quarter, its power division's revenue grew 14% to $5.5 billion, while new orders rose 134% to $16.7 billion, mostly for natural gas turbines. Its electrification arm's revenue climbed 68% to $3.6 billion, with orders up 93% to more than $6.3 billion. Total backlog stands at $176 billion, more than three times next year's expected revenue of $53 billion. Manufacturing capacity is the main bottleneck. About 80% of customers are traditional, and 20% are data centres. Most analysts rate the stock a strong buy, with a consensus price target of $1,199.47.

GE Vernova stock down 10.1% as gas turbine prices and $12.5B cash guide face six-month test

GE Vernova stock has fallen 10.1% since April 21, 2026, while the S&P 500 gained 9.8%. Investors appear to be betting that customers will keep paying rising prices for its gas turbines, with cash up front. Management expects at least 125 gigawatts of equipment under contract by the end of 2026. The company's third-quarter results, due around October 28, will show whether turbine prices keep climbing. In July, management said first-half equipment orders were priced more than 20% above fourth-quarter 2025 orders. Full-year free cash flow is due around January 26, 2027. Management raised its 2026 guide to $11.5 billion to $12.5 billion, from $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion. Wind revenue is expected to fall at a low double-digit rate in the third quarter.

GE Vernova shares rise 3.5% to $921 as Nvidia tie-up links grid planning to AI; backlog hits $176B

GE Vernova is working with Nvidia on infrastructure and digital-twin tools that link grid planning to the needs of AI factories. The company's shares rose 3.46% to $921.12 at 11:04 EDT on Wednesday. AI facilities need electricity, and GE Vernova supplies equipment that helps deliver it. The collaboration adds a digital planning layer to that opportunity. Through the second quarter, the company reported more than $5 billion in data-center orders, over twice its full-year 2025 total. Quarterly orders hit $24.2 billion, and backlog reached $176 billion, up $13 billion from the previous quarter. Revenue rose 22% to $11.1 billion. Adjusted EBITDA margin reached 11.3%. The next test is execution: turning backlog into revenue and reaching a projected 2026 adjusted EBITDA margin of 12% to 14%.
