  • At least 5 years of recent opportunity-capture experience with the U.S. Department of Defense, particularly across the Army (ideally Army Special Operations, PEO C3T, or counter-unmanned aircraft systems), Air Force (AFSOC, C2D2, or Security Forces).
  • A demonstrated record of securing contracts valued at an average of $3 million to $20 million or more, with total annual bookings of $15 million or more, including product and engineering services aligned with the company's product roadmap.
  • Practical understanding of product development, technology transition, and marketing and product planning for U.S. military applications.
  • Knowledge of conducting and directing competitive product analysis using market research techniques, and a strong technical understanding of service and agency needs and requirements.
  • Direct experience with sensor systems and situational awareness; experience with counter-unmanned aircraft systems or TAK-based systems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, complex work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work, solve problems, communicate professionally, adapt, and work effectively with a team.
  • Strong leadership, presentation, written and verbal communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Travel as required to facilitate strong customer engagement.
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing representative during program execution and coordinate internally to ensure timely, successful delivery that meets customer expectations and satisfaction.
  • Identify strategic alliances, teammates, and partners for key pursuit opportunities, and maintain those relationships through contract award and program execution.
  • Develop solutions that help protect and inform law enforcement and first responders, involving global situational awareness, counter-drone systems, edge network sensors, and radio frequency communications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with at least one other U.S. federal customer, such as the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, or Department of State.

What believers are saying

  • DIU awarded Syzygy a June 2026 counter-drone contract, validating Snap-E-AI-RTR.
  • CBP issued a 2026 follow-on forecast worth $50 million to $100 million.
  • Syzygy’s prior CBP vehicle reached $20.2 million obligated, proving repeat federal revenue.

What critics are saying

  • DIU success depends on Vizgard partnership; losing Vizgard kills the edge retraining story.
  • Syzygy has never raised funding, limiting hiring, product hardening, and acquisition flexibility.
  • Bryan Harris sued Syzygy in 2022 over trade secrets; talent leakage remains a threat.

What makes Syzygy Integration unique

  • Snap-E-AI-RTR retrains counter-drone models on-device, cutting updates from weeks to hours.
  • AwareX integrates ATAK and iTAK workflows for field operators, not back-office analysts.
  • CBP kept Syzygy as incumbent on C-NET through September 2031.

DIU contract advances rapid edge AI retraining for counter-drone systems.

DIU contract advances rapid edge AI retraining for counter-drone systems. Vizgard and Syzygy Integration will demonstrate localized AI retraining capabilities designed to reduce response timelines from weeks to hours By Summer James / 11 Jun 2026 Follow UST The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) has awarded a contract to Vizgard and Syzygy Integration LLC to demonstrate rapid counter-drone artificial intelligence retraining and optimisation directly on edge devices. Traditional methods for improving deployed AI models require extracting operational data, transferring it to analysts and data scientists, and waiting weeks for updated models. Under the new initiative, retraining and optimisation will be demonstrated on Syzygy's Snap-E-AI-RTR edge devices, ensuring no data leaves the device and removing cloud dependency. Operators will be able to flag performance issues from ATAK and iTAK within Syzygy's AwareX capability and deploy a retrained model within hours. The contract also includes sub-classification capabilities, enabling identification of the make and manufacturer of detected uncrewed aerial system platforms alongside payload alerting. This allows operators to move from basic drone detection to more detailed real-time intelligence. The effort builds on a partnership between the two companies that began in 2023, with Vizgard's FortifAI already deployed operationally across Syzygy's autonomous sensor programs. Wesley Mitchell, CEO of Syzygy, commented, "We've operated on the southern border and done counter-drone long enough to know that the model you deploy on day one isn't the model you need by month three. Being able to retrain and optimise directly at the edge on SNAP, without moving sensitive operational data off-device, changes how we respond as the threat picture evolves. Vizgard and Syzygy's integration makes that possible." According to the companies, deploying artificial intelligence without a retraining mechanism can leave operators relying on sub-optimal models that distract rather than support. By generating annotated and cleaned datasets directly within the operational system, the integrated workflow is intended to remove traditional processing bottlenecks and provide operators with tools to verify and retrain models at the edge.
