Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A state criminal background check and, if applicable, a federal criminal background check are required for regulated areas.
  • Ability to prioritize according to patient needs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
Responsibilities
  • Schedule, cancel, reschedule, and register outpatient visits and procedures for multiple ambulatory clinics by collecting all necessary information for scheduling and registration preparation.
  • Check in and check out patients in accordance with scheduling and registration guidelines.
  • Obtain and verify patient guarantor information at least annually and generate referrals when authorization is needed.
  • Schedule and register patients or customers according to scheduling guidelines and medical appropriateness within the appropriate clinic.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments and testing with patients at checkout.
  • Obtain and collect all necessary patient or customer information for appointments and registration.
  • Identify and communicate the need for scheduling modifications and development.
  • Notify appropriate personnel promptly of scheduling changes caused by patient cancellations.
  • Respond appropriately to patient and staff needs and complaints, involving department supervisors and patient representatives as needed.
  • Consult with referring physicians’ offices to ensure written or electronic orders exist and obtain them as needed.
  • Verify the completeness of written orders and notes and document requests for outside orders.
  • Collect time-of-service payments and copayments during patient check-in or checkout.
  • Reconcile the cash drawer and its contents at the end of each day and report discrepancies to the supervisor or manager.
  • Collect all signatures on managed-care waivers at check-in.
  • Complete Workques and daily tasks as needed according to the assigned scheduling area.
  • Respond to all patient communications in a timely manner.
