  • Due to government contract requirements candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Experience with or knowledge of practical electrical tools (e.g., voltmeter, multimeter)
  • Desire to learn both theoretical and practical aspects of metrology as related to electronic measurements (i.e. test fixture design, measurement accuracy, test guard-bands, etc)
  • Basic ability to interpret semiconductor related test documentation (i.e. military device specifications and standards documentation, commercial data sheets, application notes, etc) in order to complete characterization and screening tasks
  • Experience/knowledge with Unix/Linux workstation and PC (Windows) environments; ability in relevant programming languages (i.e. C, C++, LabView, etc.)
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Basic ability to multitask, with some sense of time and scheduling requirements
Responsibilities
  • Ability to read and learn methods to perform accurate and efficient characterization and QML screening of microcircuits (digital, analog, and mixed signal technologies) in compliance with MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-STD-883, SMDs, M38510 and other applicable customer requirements
  • Follow and understand the activity required to write and debug test programs for microcircuits to perform detailed wafer probe, device characterization and/or production QML screening using dedicated semiconductor Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems similar to HP82000, Advantest V93000, and Teradyne microFlex
  • Learn the existing methods for test and measurement of microcircuits using ATE, advanced bench equipment, specialized board fixtures, generation of semi-automated interface scripts (LabView) and others as necessary
  • Review test results and characterization data for consistency, accuracy, and coherency; learn how to identify and troubleshoot setup or measurement error issues as necessary
  • Be involved in the interactions with microcircuit end-users and customer program managers to learn and understand test specifications, results and issues
  • Collaborate with design engineers to create and perform diagnostic testing of microcircuits as needed

About the company

1) What the company does: SRI International is an independent nonprofit research institute that collaborates across science and engineering fields to create technologies and products aimed at improving safety, health, and sustainability. 2) How its products work: It conducts research and development to invent, prototype, test, and validate technologies, then licenses or partners with others to bring them to market. 3) How it is different: It operates as an independent nonprofit with a long history (80 years) of cross-disciplinary research that moves ideas from lab to real-world applications through partnerships, rather than focusing on selling products directly as a for-profit sole owner. 4) The goal: To advance safer, healthier, and more sustainable futures by discovering and developing impactful technologies and helping bring innovations to everyday use.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 headquarters relocation to PARC concentrates AI, robotics, biosciences, and quantum teams.
  • Robert Mandelbaum joined September 2026 to push institute-wide growth in defense and healthcare.
  • N4 Pharma and Kalekona partnerships show commercialization momentum in therapeutics and diagnostics.

What critics are saying

  • Titan Systems sued SRI on March 31, 2026, over MADDIS briefing materials, risking distraction.
  • If QMEC underdelivers within three years, federal funding credibility and quantum leadership weaken.
  • SRI's nonprofit model depends on government wins; losing NIST renewals would squeeze growth.

What makes SRI International unique

  • SRI owns PARC, joining legendary Silicon Valley labs with 80 years of nonprofit R&D.
  • NIST selected SRI in June 2026 to run QMEC with a $20 million start.
  • SRI manages QED-C, giving it unusual quantum industry convening power and standards influence.
