Requirements
  • 2–5 years of IT support experience with increasing complexity; managed service provider experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, identity, device management, and common managed service provider toolsets.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively under service-level agreement pressure while maintaining quality and client communication.
  • Ability to perform intermediate troubleshooting across multiple systems and document evidence.
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell fundamentals and willingness to build safe automation subject to review and approval.
  • Hold or actively pursue one Microsoft role-based certification aligned to daily responsibilities, such as MD-102 or MS-102.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered where appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Resolve issues beyond Service Engineer I scope across devices, identity, Microsoft 365, networking fundamentals, and core business systems, acting as a consistent technical lead for assigned clients and queues.
  • Own tickets end-to-end, including client updates, vendor or carrier coordination, resolution confirmation, and handoff when scope spans multiple teams.
  • Apply structured troubleshooting and sound judgment on when to proceed independently, escalate, or engage additional resources.
  • Use scripting and automation for repeatable tasks, such as PowerShell for standard administrative actions, within approved standards.
  • Support security posture through correct identity verification, suspicious-activity handling, and incident escalation workflows.
  • Contribute to operational improvement by surfacing recurring issues, recommending remediation, and updating knowledge-base articles and runbooks.
  • Mentor Service Engineer I staff through shadowing, pairing, and high-quality escalation feedback.
  • Balance client advocacy with scalability, security, and organizational standards while adhering to change control, documentation, and escalation practices.
  • Perform multi-step Microsoft 365 administration, including licenses, groups, mailbox permissions, and SharePoint or Teams access issues, with judgment and minimal supervision.
  • Perform endpoint and device management, including Intune policies, device compliance basics, BitLocker recovery, and Autopilot resets, within standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot identity and access management issues, including Conditional Access impacts, single sign-on issues, and multifactor authentication or Authenticator edge cases.
  • Triage backup, disaster recovery, and security tooling issues, including agent health, failed jobs, and initial containment actions according to incident standard operating procedures.
  • Suggest professional services automation and remote monitoring and management workflow fixes and flag recurring issue trends with evidence.
  • Meet service-level agreement compliance, customer satisfaction, utilization, billable-efficiency, ticket-quality, and quality-assurance expectations.
  • Meet documentation and time-entry standards and participate in quality-assurance audits.
Desired Qualifications
  • Managed service provider experience is strongly preferred.
  • AZ-104 is recommended for engineers working regularly in Azure or Microsoft 365 administration and is required for Senior promotion readiness.
