Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of experience in a high-contact customer service position or equivalent setting with demonstrated above-standard performance is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull 50–80 pounds for short durations.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, stand, reach below knee level, kneel and squat, bend or twist at the waist, grasp with both hands, position or turn patients, and push or pull a wheelchair.
  • Must be able to sit or walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work various shifts based on departmental and patient needs.
  • Must be able to wear latex or non-latex gloves with frequent changes and hand washing.
  • Must demonstrate basic computer and office equipment skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Must demonstrate a strong customer service orientation and knowledge of customer service strategies and tactics.
  • Must have written and verbal communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • Must be able to manage multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Must have time management skills.
  • Must be able to take initiative to resolve immediate problems.
  • Must be able to work independently, research problems by accessing available resources, and implement appropriate actions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide a warm welcome to patients, families, and visitors upon arrival.
  • Anticipate customer needs and concerns, answer questions, and take appropriate action.
  • Provide wayfinding services and direct patients and visitors to the appropriate hospital departments.
  • Inform patients, families, and visitors about hospital services, features, amenities, cafeteria, and department locations.
  • Answer questions in person or by phone about patients, locations, hospital services, and programs.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, determine their purpose, and forward calls to the appropriate patient, personnel, or department.
  • Follow up on customer concerns and complaints, assist with timely issue resolution, and offer service recovery methods when needed.
  • Provide information about hotels, local events, venues, transportation options, restaurants, area attractions, and other guest recommendations using available computer and telephone resources.
  • Provide organizational and local maps and information about hotel accommodations and restaurants.
  • Assist in maintaining the location's appearance and individual work area.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Travel between facilities or buildings when required.
