Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in social work or a related social services field is required.
  • Two years of case management experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned duties and seek and accept supervision as needed.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathetic listening.
  • Excellent organizational and case file/documentation management skills.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn a trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and survivor-centered approach.
  • Linguistic and cultural competency to holistically serve survivors of human trafficking.
  • Ability to maintain ethical conduct and comply with organizational policies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information.
  • Working knowledge of community organizations, social services, public benefits, health care systems, and related human services.
  • Ability to respect and promote the interests and mission of The Salvation Army.
Responsibilities
  • Assess survivors initially and evaluate their needs before safety planning, service orientation, support, and referrals.
  • Assist in developing and implementing an outreach plan incorporating awareness campaigns, street outreach, and drop-in efforts.
  • Assist outreach workers with street outreach and drop-in center programs.
  • Assist survivors in accessing shelter, emotional and mental health services, medical care, employment services, legal assistance, and other services in their individualized service plans.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to support outreach efforts.
  • Attend anti-trafficking councils, committees, community meetings, case review meetings, and relevant professional development activities as requested.
  • Participate in outreach efforts, presentations, and community education to increase human trafficking awareness and victim identification.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate case notes and documentation for all contacts and services provided.
  • Provide comprehensive case management using a trauma-informed, harm-reduction, survivor-centered approach.
  • Accompany survivors to appointments, social service agencies, meetings with law enforcement, and other relevant meetings.
  • Collaborate with survivors to develop service plans and timelines based on identified goals and barriers.
  • Meet face-to-face with survivors throughout the month to review goals and update service plans.
  • Maintain weekly contact with survivors through phone calls and email.
  • Refer and connect survivors to appropriate Corps locations for pastoral care, adult and youth programs, and other relevant services.
  • Track program statistics and outcomes, enter data, draft reports, and submit reports as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience working with survivors of human trafficking or other victims of crime, including direct service to underserved populations.
  • Experience in public speaking and speaking to small groups.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
