onsemi reported second-quarter revenue of $1.60 billion, beating analyst estimates of $1.59 billion, with adjusted earnings per share of $0.74 versus expectations of $0.72. The company's performance was driven by surging demand in its AI data centre segment. CEO Hassane El-Khoury said AI data centres remain the company's fastest-growing market, with wins amongst key hyperscalers. The company guided third-quarter revenue to $1.7 billion at the midpoint, above analyst estimates of $1.67 billion. Operating margin improved to 16.1%, up from 13.2% in the same quarter last year. Management noted that prioritisation of AI data centre shipments was necessary due to manufacturing constraints, though they expect normalisation as production catches up. The company is applying pricing increases across all markets to offset input cost pressures.

The company expects AI data centre silicon carbide revenues to rise nearly 60% in 2026. CFO Thad Trent guided Q3 revenue to $1.65–1.75 billion and gross margin to 40–42%. Q2 non-GAAP earnings of $0.74 per share beat consensus estimates of $0.72, whilst revenue of $1.60 billion exceeded the $1.59 billion estimate. Factory utilisation rose to 83% from 77%, with each percentage point adding 25–30 basis points to gross margin. Lead times extended to 32 weeks from 27 weeks, and book-to-bill remained significantly above 1.

Cash from operations increased 150% whilst free cash flow quadrupled year-over-year to $425.4 million. The company repurchased $332 million in shares, bringing year-to-date shareholder returns to approximately 105% of free cash flow. Onsemi will report earnings on Monday after the bell. The analog chipmaker beat revenue expectations last quarter with $1.51 billion, up 4.7% year on year. Analysts expect this quarter's revenue to grow 8.2% year on year, reversing the 15.4% decrease from the same quarter last year. Analysts have largely reconfirmed their estimates over the past 30 days. Peers have shown mixed results. Monolithic Power Systems reported 47.6% revenue growth, beating expectations by 8.6%, whilst Impinj's revenues rose 10.7%, topping estimates by 3.5%. Onsemi shares are down 14.2% over the past month, trading at $81.34 against an average analyst price target of $113.12.
