About the job

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a Technical/Associate Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in equipment design, manufacturing engineering, or design-for-manufacturing-focused roles.
  • Senior-level product design experience delivering complex equipment designs in a production environment.
  • Ability to independently solve complex technical problems and drive alignment across multiple stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience releasing production-ready designs in an original equipment manufacturer manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present and defend technical recommendations.
  • Ability to interpret and influence process failure mode and effects analysis, tolerance strategies, and assembly sequencing.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and practices relevant to air-handling and original equipment manufacturer equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead design-for-manufacturing reviews for new and existing equipment designs to ensure manufacturing readiness before release.
  • Identify and eliminate manufacturability risks related to tolerances, assembly sequence, access, ergonomics, tooling, and safety.
  • Drive design simplification, part reduction, modularization, and standardization initiatives across EDE programs.
  • Ensure designs support line-rate production targets with minimal engineering intervention.
  • Embed design-for-safety principles into designs from concept through release, eliminating hazards or mitigating them at the design level rather than through procedural controls.
  • Ensure designs support safe manufacturing, assembly, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning, with appropriate access, guarding, and serviceability.
  • Eliminate unsafe manufacturing practices, including manual drilling, unsafe rework, and poor access, through robust design solutions, subassemblies, fixtures, and poka-yoke features.
  • Address ergonomic and human-factors considerations to reduce injury risk during build and service activities.
  • Participate in peer, manufacturing, and leadership design reviews, with accountability for manufacturability and safety outcomes.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to incorporate factory feedback early and continuously.
  • Support process failure mode and effects analysis, virtual builds, and manufacturing sign-off activities in the design release process.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for manufacturability and safety issues identified during build or production ramp-up.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce design-for-manufacturing guidelines, standard work, and design checklists within EDE.
  • Ensure compliance with internal drafting standards and applicable codes, such as ASME Y14.
  • Support engineering change management by ensuring changes improve manufacturability and do not introduce downstream risk.
  • Lead value analysis/value engineering initiatives focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and cycle-time reduction.
  • Analyze manufacturing defects, rework, and non-conformances to drive permanent design improvements.
  • Contribute to stock-keeping-unit reduction, standard part adoption, and reuse targets across programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting high-volume or rate-driven manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with structured change control and product lifecycle management systems; Windchill is preferred.
  • Background in industrial or large-scale equipment, such as HVAC, enclosures, modular systems, or machinery.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng, P.L.Eng, or P.Tech) designation or eligibility.
  • Familiarity with standards and regulations related to data center equipment.

Ring Capital joins Enerin's Series A to decarbonise high-temperature industrial heat

Enerin, a Norwegian industrial heat pump technology company, has completed the third tranche of its Series A round, adding Paris-based Ring Capital to its investor consortium. The round includes Climentum Capital, The Footprint Firm, Johnson Controls, Move Energy, PSV Hafnium and Momentum. The company's HoegTemp system delivers thermal energy at temperatures up to 250°C, targeting the industrial heat segment responsible for over 20% of global CO2 emissions. Each installation avoids approximately 36,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over its lifetime by replacing fossil-fuel boilers. Enerin is transitioning from development to serial production, with three active pilots and a recent contract with Roche. The funding will scale manufacturing operations and accelerate product development. CEO Arne Høeg said Ring Capital's involvement strengthens the company's ability to deploy solutions across Europe.
