Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience.
  • A current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I Certification.
  • Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification.
  • Understanding of the Proctor Compaction Test and United States [USCS] Soil Classification.
  • Trained and demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field, with validation required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate and confidential test records and prepare understandable reports.
  • Skilled in using computers and common software applications, with the ability to learn company-specific software and programs.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and comply with company operation and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to move, lift, or carry objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and physically maneuver through construction sites and excavations.
  • Sufficient visual and hearing ability to comprehend written and verbal communications in English and communicate directly and by telephone.
  • Availability for night work, weekend rotations, early morning work, and schedule changes based on construction schedules.
  • A valid driver's license from the state of residence and eligibility for coverage under applicable corporate insurance policies.
Responsibilities
  • Review specifications for civil and structural plans and identify sections applicable to the scope of work.
  • Perform tests, general construction inspections, and observations according to project requirements with some supervision.
  • Prepare, collect, and test samples and conduct field observations for soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt.
  • Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections, and field observations.
  • Document and communicate nonconforming items to designated project supervision.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate assigned equipment according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Transport, operate, and care for a nuclear density gauge in accordance with the Radiation Safety Program Policy.
  • Identify, verbally communicate, and document test results and construction activities.
  • Travel daily to construction work sites, generally within 100 miles of the home office, with occasional short-term and long-term out-of-town assignments.
  • Receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions.
