Once considered a convenience feature, it is now recognised as an important tool for improving safety, supporting compliance with mobile phone laws, and streamlining day-to-day operations. As more fleet vehicles arrive equipped with built-in voice systems, the region's fleets are beginning to integrate these tools into broader safety and efficiency strategies. Understanding voice control in fleet vehicles. Voice control systems allow drivers to operate key functions, such as navigation, communication, and reporting, using natural language commands. The technology uses artificial intelligence and natural language processing to interpret everyday speech, reducing the need for manual input. For fleet operators, this means drivers can stay connected and productive while maintaining focus on the road. In places where strict mobile phone bans apply to drivers, hands-free systems are particularly valuable. Voice control provides a compliant alternative to touching devices, helping organisations meet workplace road safety obligations under chain of responsibility and work health and safety laws. Examples of voice systems in use. Several major technology platforms now include integrated voice systems in vehicles common to Australasian fleets. Apple CarPlay's Siri and Android Auto's Google Assistant support hands-free calling, messaging, and navigation through simple spoken commands. Amazon Alexa Auto is also appearing in newer models, allowing drivers to control route information and compatible apps by voice. Trimble integrates TRAVIS for parking bookings. Jul 23, 2026 at 10:13 AM A new integration between Trimble and TRAVIS Road Services aims to address one of the biggest challenges in European road freight transport: securing a parking space in a timely manner before the end of driving time. With the introduction of this feature, drivers can now directly access and book more than 750 registered TRAVIS parking locations through the Trimble CoPilot navigation platform. According to a statement from Trimble, this provides relief for drivers and fleet management. The integration is available to Trimble CoPilot customers in 26 European countries. Drivers will be redirected to the TRAVIS platform to check the availability of parking spaces and make bookings. TRAVIS provides the booking conditions and prices for the spaces. This measure comes at a time when carriers in Europe are increasingly under pressure to ensure the safety of drivers, provide theft protection, and comply with driving time regulations. According to a study by the European Commission cited by Trimble in the statement, truck drivers spend an average of 45 minutes per day searching for a parking space before their allowable driving time expires. This situation not only leads to stress and fatigue but also poses a significant safety risk, particularly for female drivers. The challenges of finding parking also result in inefficiencies, such as lost time, unnecessary driving miles, and fuel waste. These factors could accumulate to as much as 19,200 euros per truck per year.

It will enable fully autonomous missions inside complex and dynamic construction environments, which can result in consistent and precise reality capture for production and quality control workflows. Exyn Technologies and Trimble Collaborate on a Proof of Concept for a Fully Autonomous Surveying Solution for Construction. Autonomous robots powered by ExynAI, can sense and avoid obstacles, dynamically adapting to the ever-changing complexity of construction environments. To ensure the utmost safety and efficiency, the ExynPak mounts and integrates with a robot, supporting level 4 of autonomous exploration missions without requiring the robot to "learn" about its environment beforehand. A surveyor simply defines a 3D volume for a mission and the integrated robotic solution handles the complexities of self-navigation without needing a map, GPS or wireless infrastructure. The integration of the Trimble X7 provides high-speed, high-accuracy 3D laser scanning to capture the state of the environment. The captured data can be uploaded to the Trimble Connect(R) collaboration platform and shared with project stakeholders for further analysis, including a comparison to Building Information Models (BIM) and previous scans to monitor quality and progress. The end result is a map of unprecedented detail and accuracy collected with minimal human intervention and risk.
SUNNYVALE, Calif. Trimble announces new X12 3D laser scanner. Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced today the new Trimble(R) X12 scanning system to the geospatial scanning portfolio. The X12 integrates intuitive Trimble software for precise data capture and in-field registration with state-of-the-art 3D laser scanning and imaging hardware technology from Zoller+Fröhlich (Z+F), combining the expertise of two industry leaders into a single solution. The Trimble X12 can be operated by using Trimble Perspective field software installed on a Trimble T10x tablet to enable registration and refinement of scans in the field, ensuring project accuracy and completion before leaving the jobsite. Users can also leverage Trimble's customized on-board software menu to configure and operate the scanner. Data is exported from the field and processed in the office with Trimble RealWorks(TM) software or third-party software. Final deliverables can be shared online with clients and stakeholders using Trimble Clarity, a browser-based data collaboration and visualization tool. Transforming high-quality 3D data into decisions, such as using scans, models and imagery to determine the structural integrity of aging infrastructure, is streamlined with the Trimble X12 because the data can reside within the Trimble software ecosystem.
