About the job

Requirements
  • Have deep, hands-on experience across end-to-end supply chain, including planning, sourcing, logistics, and fulfillment, and strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management, typically 10+ years or 8+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
  • Have owned multi-year category strategies for complex, high-spend, supply-constrained areas with material cost and continuity-of-supply impact.
  • Have personally closed the hardest contracts as a lead negotiator, rather than directing someone else to do so.
  • Have set process, policy, or governance standards adopted by an organization and driven policy change to mitigate real business risk.
  • Have 3+ years of informal or indirect team leadership, coaching senior practitioners, and driving consensus across functions the role does not own.
  • Brief and persuade executives internally and across the supplier base, and build business cases that earn decisions.
  • Use data to anticipate risk, model change-order impact, and defend decisions.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguity, on compressed timelines, and in a supply-constrained market.
  • Have worked closely with construction teams, including general contractors, construction managers, design and engineering firms, and specialty trades.
  • Have led construction contracting and contract administration, including selecting delivery models, negotiating general contractor, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), and trade agreements, and managing change orders, claims, and closeout through project completion.
  • Have procured long-lead datacenter or critical-facility infrastructure equipment and sequenced it against a live construction schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Own multi-year sourcing and category strategy for equipment and construction scopes delivering datacenter capacity, including long-lead electrical and mechanical equipment, construction, and trade packages.
  • Partner with Construction, Design, and Development teams from site selection and basis-of-design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, aligning sourcing strategy and construction schedules.
  • Own procurement of long-lead datacenter infrastructure equipment, including generators, switchgear, transformers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, busway, chillers, air handling units, and cooling distribution; sequence awards and deliveries to protect the critical path.
  • Lead contracting strategy for construction delivery by selecting and negotiating with general contractors, EPCs, design firms, and specialty trades, and selecting commercial models such as lump sum, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), cost-plus, and design-build to fit project risk profiles.
  • Serve as lead negotiator on high-value construction and equipment agreements, set negotiation strategy, build consensus internally and externally on goals and success criteria, and partner with Legal on master agreement terms.
  • Own the owner-furnished equipment strategy, deciding what Lambda buys directly versus through contractors and managing resulting logistics, storage, warranty, and installation interfaces.
  • Drive change-order discipline across active construction projects by assessing claims and schedule impacts against the underlying business case, partnering with Construction Management and Legal on resolution, and adjusting impact models cross-functionally.
  • Identify long-term cost-reduction opportunities across equipment and construction categories, including standardization, volume aggregation across sites, early buys, and design-to-cost, and lead cross-functional efforts to realize them.
  • Build strategic partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), contractors, and trade partners to secure capacity and delivery slots in a constrained market, and drive innovation, prefabrication, and schedule compression.
  • Negotiate and provide strategic oversight of delivery commitments, milestones, and service-level agreements (SLAs) across equipment vendors and construction partners; own compliance end to end and cascade expectations into the business.
  • Set standards for procurement and contract execution across the construction program, serve as escalation point on pricing and delivery issues, and deliver executive-level briefings on execution models, anticipated risks, and contingency plans.
  • Partner with stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers to identify threats to schedule, cost, and safety, determine which alternative solutions or policy changes best mitigate them, and drive remediation.
  • Oversee supplier and contractor performance management, including quality and safety deliverables, through audits, site walks, and business reviews, and ensure governance keeps sourcing and contract data current.
  • Define and execute industry and ecosystem engagement strategy across the datacenter construction supply base, articulate business cases that earn leadership buy-in, and influence decisions deployed across the portfolio.
Desired Qualifications
  • Have category management experience with datacenter infrastructure equipment, such as generators, switchgear, and chillers.
  • Have program management experience delivering datacenter capacity at scale, from equipment sourcing and procurement through project execution.
  • Have experience negotiating master agreements and resolving contract disputes alongside Legal in a high-growth company.
  • Have experience establishing sourcing processes, governance, or supplier management practices where little existed.
  • Have experience applying artificial intelligence and automation tools to supply chain or procurement workflows.

Neoclouds explained: GPU providers behind the AI boom face a $3.5T impairment risk

Neoclouds, specialist providers that rent out GPU capacity for AI training and inference, have gone from unknown startups to listed companies with contracts worth billions of dollars. CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN lead the listed group; Lambda, Crusoe and Fluidstack remain private. Their shares fell hard in October 2026. CoreWeave dropped 29%, leaving it valued at about $34 billion against a 2025 peak of about $90 billion; Nebius fell 27% and IREN 32%. CoreWeave's unsecured debt yielded about 15%. On October 14, 2026, Gartner predicted that more than 80% of neocloud providers will stop operating independently by 2030. It also warned that more than $3.5 trillion of AI infrastructure spending could face impairment. Demand remains strong. CoreWeave co-founder Brannin McBee said nearly all of its 2027 capacity is sold.

Anthropic signs $35B cloud deal with Nvidia-backed Lambda for Texas data centre

Anthropic has signed a $35 billion cloud-computing agreement with Nvidia-backed Lambda, the Wall Street Journal reported. The deal gives Anthropic access to computing capacity from a Texas data centre being developed by Hut 8, a Bitcoin miner turned data centre operator. Nvidia secured capacity at the facility, whilst Lambda will deploy Nvidia chips and provide computing resources to Anthropic. The arrangement's financial terms remain unclear. Anthropic's annualised revenue run rate reportedly reached $65 billion by end-July. The structure highlights Nvidia's expanding role beyond selling AI chips. Anthropic previously agreed to spend $45 billion over six years with another Nvidia-backed provider, Nscale. In April, Amazon announced Anthropic plans to spend over $100 billion on AWS technology over the next decade.

Lambda closes $926M term loan B to fund GPU infrastructure for investment-grade customer

Lambda has closed a $926 million senior secured term loan B facility to fund GPU infrastructure for an investment-grade customer. The facility, priced at SOFR + 3.00% and issued at 99.5% of principal, received a Baa2 rating from Moody's. This marks Lambda's first large-scale private cloud GPU asset-backed financing and the first broadly syndicated, investment-grade-rated term loan B by a private neocloud. The facility matures on 31 December 2030 and is secured by the GPU servers and related infrastructure it funds. The closing follows Lambda's $1 billion senior secured credit facility announced in May 2026. Morgan Stanley acted as lead left arranger, bookrunner, and administrative agent, with MUFG serving as joint bookrunner.
