The Personal Trainer conducts high quality one-on-one or small group sessions with patrons to help achieve individual goals, while emphasizing patron service in an effort to promote and retain quality programs.

Job Scope:

No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts personal training sessions with patrons in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
• Evaluates sessions through direct contact with patrons as well as written surveys.
• Maintains up to date, accurate records of attendance
• Assists in maintaining cleanliness of fitness area.
• Ensures proper use of equipment by patrons, enforces fitness area rules and regulations and maintains safe environment for patron use.
• Completes incident/accident reports promptly and completely and immediately reports any incidents, injuries, or accidents to management.
• Notifies management staff of needed repairs.
• Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.
• Ensures enforcement of rules and regulations of LSPR.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current National Personal Training Certifications, such as ASC, ACSM, ACE, etc. required; and,
• Must perform and pass successful demonstration of skills to Recreation Supervisor; and,
• Basic First Aid and CPR/AED required

Principal Working Relationships

• Works with assigned supervisors, managers and superintendents to gain overall guidance and direction in the conduct of duties.
• Interacts with departmental personnel to provide quality services and to satisfy operational needs.
• Interacts with patrons and LSPR employees to foster open communication and positive attitude.

Physical Classification:

• Medium:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to raise or lower objects from one level to another, transport an object, exert force upon an object so that it moves away from or toward the force, or otherwise move objects.

• Feeling.  Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
• Fingering.  Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
• Grasping.  Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
• Hearing.  Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.  Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.

• Stooping.  Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.  This occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
• Talking.  Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Walking.  Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision:

• The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
