About the company

The Coca-Cola Company owns and markets beverage brands sold around the world, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Dasani, Powerade and fairlife. Its flagship cola has been sold in the United States since 1886 and anchors a portfolio spanning sparkling drinks, water, sports drinks, coffee, tea, juice and dairy. Rather than bottling most drinks itself, it sells concentrates and syrups to a franchised network of independent bottlers, which package and distribute finished beverages. It earns most revenue from those concentrate sales, plus finished drinks from bottlers it owns. The company was incorporated in 1892 and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

What believers are saying

  • Sales momentum is building: global unit case volume rose 5% in the quarter ended July 2026, led by Asia Pacific.
  • Partners multiply Coca-Cola's reach: about 700,000 people worked across its bottling system in December 2025.
  • Coca-Cola promotes from within: Henrique Braun, who joined in 1996, became CEO in March 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Corporate jobs are being trimmed: Coca-Cola cut 75 Atlanta headquarters roles in February 2026, with more waves planned.
  • Costa Coffee staff face an uncertain owner: Coca-Cola again sought a buyer in October 2026 after weak earlier bids.
  • Divestitures shrink Coca-Cola's own payroll: headcount fell to about 65,900 in 2025, mainly from selling businesses.

What makes The Coca-Cola Company unique

  • Coca-Cola sells only drinks, from sodas to coffee and dairy, while its main rival PepsiCo also sells snacks.
  • Coca-Cola also runs coffee shops: its Costa Coffee chain has about 2,700 UK and Ireland outlets and 20,000 staff.
  • Coca-Cola keeps building big brands: it added over 10 billion-dollar brands during James Quincey's nine years as CEO.

Coca-Cola Q3: 7% organic growth, 22 straight quarters of share gains, 2027 Africa headwind

Coca-Cola reported 7% organic revenue growth in the third quarter of 2026, extending its run to 22 consecutive quarters of value share gains. Growth in India and Brazil offset weak demand in China and weather-related pressure in Japan. North America volume was flat, which the company blamed on the timing of the July 4 holiday and temporary finished goods challenges. It raised its 2026 organic revenue growth guidance to at least 5%, allowing for six fewer selling days in the fourth quarter. The planned refranchising of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa should cut 2027 revenue by 8 points but improve margins and returns. Coca-Cola holds leverage at 1.3 times EBITDA while it awaits a court decision in its dispute with the IRS. It is also exploring an IPO of its bottling operations in India.

Q3 earnings call US consumers "resilient", but Whirlpool shows strain as sales fall 8%

Early third-quarter earnings suggest US consumers are still spending, though not every company is benefiting. "Resilient" was the word many executives used this week, despite inflation, high interest rates and tension between the US and Iran. Royal Caribbean beat earnings expectations, with guests served up 9% to 2.7 million. Its shares rose over 8% on Tuesday. UPS beat expectations on earnings and revenue, with US revenue up 4.5% to $14.86 billion, and raised its full-year revenue forecast to about $92.6 billion from $91.2 billion. Coca-Cola beat expectations and lifted its full-year earnings growth forecast to at least 11%. Sherwin-Williams' net sales rose 7.9%, but it expects muted demand into 2027. Whirlpool missed on both revenue and earnings, and its North America net sales fell more than 8%.

Coca-Cola falls 2.76% to $92.71 a day after 52-week high as India share loss weighs ahead of results

Coca-Cola shares fell 2.76% to $92.71 on October 23, a day after touching a 52-week intraday high of $95.37. No company-specific cause was reported; the Dow dropped more than 600 points as oil prices rose. Investors now look to third-quarter results on October 27. In the second quarter, Asia Pacific unit case volume rose 8%, but price/mix fell 9% and the company lost value share in the region as an India loss outweighed gains in Japan and China. Chief executive officer Henrique Braun favours volume and affordability over price in India, where seven of the top 10 brands are Coca-Cola's. The stock trades at about 27 times forward earnings, against about 16 for PepsiCo. The Street's mean target is around $95.

Coca-Cola retains WPP for global media, appoints Omnicom for North America.

Coca-Cola retains WPP for global media, appoints Omnicom for North America. The beverage major has completed a review of its global marketing operating model, retaining WPP Open X across most markets while appointing Omnicom to handle media in North America. The revised structure will take effect in phases from December 1. * Published On Oct 23, 2026 at 09:23 AM IST * Read by 1044 Professionals The Coca-Cola Company has completed a review of its global marketing operating model, retaining WPP Open X as its media partner across most international markets while appointing Omnicom to manage its media business in North America. Under the revised arrangement, WPP Open X will continue to handle Coca-Cola's global media business, excluding North America, Japan and South Korea. Dentsu will retain its media responsibilities in Japan and South Korea, which were not part of the review. WPP Open X will also continue as Coca-Cola's global creative partner, an arrangement that was not included in the review. The company said the exercise was aimed at strengthening its marketing capabilities through greater integration of data, technology and artificial intelligence (AI), while improving its ability to respond to changing consumer behaviour. Manolo Arroyo, executive vice president and chief marketing and customer commercial officer, The Coca-Cola Company, said, "We began this process with a clear objective: ensure we have the right partners, capabilities and operating model to continue to lead in a rapidly changing marketing landscape." "The outcome reinforces our confidence in the strength of our global marketing ecosystem and positions us to accelerate growth through deeper consumer understanding, greater agility and the responsible application of emerging technologies," he added. WPP retains global responsibilities WPP has been a central part of Coca-Cola's marketing transformation since the creation of Open X in 2021, supporting the company's marketing operations across more than 200 countries and territories. Following the review, WPP will continue to provide capabilities spanning creative, media, creator marketing and commerce, supported by its integrated data, technology and AI infrastructure. Coca-Cola highlighted WPP's Open Intelligence data solution and its application during the FIFA World Cup 2026 activation as examples of the agency group's capabilities. "WPP delivered a stellar performance during the reviews, demonstrating their strong, modern media, tech and data capabilities," Arroyo said. The company also pointed to WPP's capabilities in creator marketing, commerce and retail media, alongside its approach to integrating marketing functions through the WPP Open platform. Omnicom takes over North America media mandate The appointment of Omnicom in North America marks a significant change in Coca-Cola's regional media operations. Omnicom will work alongside WPP StudioX, bringing together media, data, customer relationship management (CRM), loyalty and creator marketing capabilities within a connected marketing ecosystem. According to Coca-Cola, the arrangement is intended to move its North American marketing operations beyond channel-specific execution towards more integrated consumer experiences. The company expects the model to strengthen coordination between consumer data, media investments and customer engagement, while supporting its broader marketing transformation. "Our review was about designing the future of our marketing organization," Arroyo said. "The best marketing systems are built when you combine the best marketing talent with the right partnerships. We are confident that this combination of global scale, local expertise, innovation and collaboration gives us exactly that," he added. The revised agency structure will be implemented in phases beginning December 1, 2026. * Published On Oct 23, 2026 at 09:23 AM IST

Coca-Cola taps Kolkata's Durga Puja celebrations to revive traditional adda culture. Discover more Read Daily News Inspired by the courtyards, verandas and red oxide floors that historically hosted informal conversations, the campaign aims to reconnect people with Kolkata's cultural heritage as traditional social spaces become less accessible amid urban development.
