Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
  • Five to fifteen years of experience working as a Civil Engineer in the water resources and storm water management field.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Construction management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to sit and operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors during construction season and to stand and walk for prolonged periods during construction observation and surveying.
  • Ability to work scheduled and required hours and lift objects or containers weighing 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on water resources projects from planning through design and construction.
  • Independently manage projects and contribute collaboratively to the design and development of project plans and specifications.
  • Provide professional engineering services, including studies, planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management.
  • Communicate with clients, supervisors, and project team members by providing updates and progress throughout all project phases.
  • Attend company, project, and client meetings.
  • Lead proposal preparation and participate in interviews to secure work for the firm.
  • Provide direction to engineering technicians and other team members developing project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with other engineering departments on complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Follow the company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
  • Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner.
  • Participate in business development and general marketing activities for the firm.
  • Travel and stay out of town as required, and work overtime during the construction season when needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Professional Engineer license or the ability to become licensed within 6–12 months.
  • Experience in watershed modeling, storm water collection system design, pump station design, sizing and selecting equipment, preparing civil design drawings, and preparing cost opinions.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other computer-aided design and drafting software.
  • Experience participating in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
