Requirements
  • A master's degree in Humanities, Liberal Arts, or Liberal Studies; or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Humanities, Liberal Arts, or Liberal Studies; or equivalent master's-level humanities graduate-hour combinations specified in the posting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.
  • Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
  • Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
  • Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
  • Use the college's learning management system appropriately.
  • Upload unofficial or copied transcripts, an updated curriculum vitae or résumé, and a cover letter explaining interest in the position.
  • If selected, request official electronic transcripts to be sent directly from the institution to [email protected]; if electronic transcripts are unavailable, mail official hardcopy transcripts to ACC Human Resources at the address specified in the posting.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach courses in Interdisciplinary Humanities to a multicultural student population based on approved course learning outcomes, using instructional strategies appropriate to community college students and disciplinary standards.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services to students without discrimination based on protected characteristics.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor, or executive vice chancellor.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
  • Work routinely in a classroom or laboratory setting.
  • Meet physical requirements including standing, walking, sitting, and reaching for extended periods.
