About the Job

Requirements

  • Experience building and operating customer-facing REST APIs over real infrastructure, including asynchronous jobs, rollback, and eventual-consistency problems.
  • Strong async Python experience in production, with comfort writing and reviewing Go.
  • Working routing knowledge to configure and debug BGP sessions, VRFs, GRE tunnels, NAT, and WireGuard, and to read FRR or VyOS configurations.
  • PostgreSQL experience beyond ORM basics, including live-system migrations, locking semantics, and queue patterns.
  • Production-scale fleet automation over SSH with Ansible, including idempotent roles, safe rollout and rollback, and drift detection.
  • Experience debugging incidents across network and application layers using tcpdump, wg show, vtysh, and application logs.
  • Ability to work with Python asyncio, aiohttp, uvloop, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, and aiopg; Go; Jinja2; Bash; PostgreSQL; RabbitMQ; VyOS; FRR; Linux networking; Unbound; Ansible; netmiko; asyncssh; pynetbox; netaddr; Envoy; xDS; Docker/OCI; GitHub Actions; HashiCorp Vault; OpenAPI 3; Redocly; pytest; mypy; ruff; and black.
  • Experience applying clean or hexagonal architecture using use cases, repository interfaces, and adapters.

Responsibilities

  • Design API resources and OpenAPI 3 specifications, manage edge API-gateway routing, and maintain backward compatibility for live customers.
  • Build the orchestration control plane in Python 3.12 and asyncio to translate API requests into network deployments, including resource allocation, PostgreSQL-backed job queues, retries, rollback after partial failures, deploy/decommission runners, health-check daemons, and reconciliation daemons.
  • Build network automation that pushes Jinja2-templated configuration to Linux and VyOS nodes, including WireGuard lifecycle management, FRR/VyOS BGP configuration, GRE tunnels, static NAT and firewall rules, Unbound DNS, health-check-driven anycast announcements and withdrawals, and configuration-drift detection.
  • Integrate Equinix Fabric and Equinix Metal APIs to provision virtual cross-connects into AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud regions.
  • Develop a Go xDS control plane for Envoy data planes, pushing CDS, RDS, and EDS over ADS to edge and gateway Envoy fleets.
  • Operate production metrics and alerting with Prometheus and Telegraf, use Bugsnag, handle customer escalations spanning application logic and networking, and synchronize billing for network resources.
  • Own products end to end, from developer-facing specifications through orchestration and network configuration deployed to routers.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Envoy and xDS control-plane work, including go-control-plane and ADS snapshots.
  • Experience with cloud interconnect products such as AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, GCP Partner Interconnect, or Equinix Fabric/Metal provisioning APIs.
  • Experience with IPAM internals such as NetBox, address-plan design, and route-distinguisher design.
  • Experience migrating live customer traffic from Linux to VyOS or an equivalent network operating system.
  • Exposure to mobile core routing toward PGW/PCEF/EPC or GRE toward packet gateways.
  • Experience authoring OpenAPI specifications and public developer documentation.
  • Experience operating multi-site PoP fleets across bare metal and Equinix-hosted infrastructure.
