Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 year of interpreting experience. In a clinical setting preferred.
  • National Board of Certification of Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) or equivalent
Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and culturally responsive interpretation between Spanish and English-speaking people we serve, families, and staff during mental health assessments, therapy sessions, crisis interventions, and care coordination activities.
  • Facilitate effective communication by conveying meaning, tone, and intent faithfully while maintaining neutrality, confidentiality, and professional boundaries in accordance with interpreting standards and organizational policies.
  • Support equitable access to services by helping ensure the people we serve with limited English proficiency fully understand diagnoses, treatment options, consent forms, and care plans.
  • Translate written materials from English to Spanish and Spanish to English, including consent forms, treatment plans, client communications, educational materials, and outreach documents, ensuring accuracy and cultural relevance.
  • Ensure translated materials are clear, accessible, and trauma informed, using plain language appropriate for diverse literacy levels within the communities served.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, language access standards, and organizational policies when translating sensitive or protected health information.
  • Collaborate with Clinical & Community Services teams to identify communication barriers, share insights related to language access needs, and support culturally and linguistically appropriate service delivery.
