Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, with some post-secondary education.
  • CCNA certification.
  • Five years of network administration experience, including Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, Cisco IOS, Cisco CallManager, Cisco routers, switches, and gateways.
  • Experience with TCP/IP protocols, telecommunications circuits, firewall and security technologies, VoIP solutions, Spanning Tree Protocol, and VLAN trunking, or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, gateways, TCP/IP protocols, LAN/WAN infrastructure and routing, EIGRP and BGP protocols, VoIP, video and voice compression protocols such as H.323 and H.264, SIP, MPLS, and other WAN communication protocols.
  • Expert knowledge of SolarWinds, SCOM monitoring software, WAN analyzer software, and packet analyzer software.
  • Expert knowledge of firewall and security technologies using VPN and NAC, LAN/WAN infrastructure and routing, Cisco switches, routers, gatekeepers, and gateways.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications circuits such as DS1, T1, and PRI.
  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting techniques and protocols.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, Windows 7, Microsoft Visio, SolarWinds, Cisco CallManager, WAN analyzer software, and packet analyzer software.
  • Ability to research complex problems and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to establish rapport with users who may be unfamiliar with technical aspects of their technology.
  • Ability to accomplish a high volume of competing work assignments and routine duties within established deadlines.
  • Ability to respond appropriately and work effectively in stressful situations, including dealing with upset employees, tight deadlines, long hours, and communicating complex policies or procedures.
  • Ability to travel away from the primary office location.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to competently operate common office equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to 50 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to continuously sit and keyboard, and to frequently talk, hear, see, and operate hand controls; occasional standing, walking, stair climbing, touching, and bending or stooping.
  • Must pass a background check and employment history review.
  • Professional conduct, presentation, language, and attire are required at all times.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, design, analyze, and maintain transport and telecommunications systems for new and existing sites.
  • Analyze symptoms to accurately isolate customer and network problems.
  • Help select, develop, support, and implement network standards, processes, and security to maintain corporate standards and industry best practices.
  • Support installation of development and test infrastructure for internal department testing and research.
  • Provide second-level tier-2 LAN/WAN/telecommunications support to troubleshoot end-user connectivity problems of all complexity, often requiring in-depth examination and extensive research.
  • Report potential security issues to the supervisor.
  • Build a positive and responsive rapport with management, employees, and vendors.
  • Receive and timely process or respond to verbal and written requests.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Internet Explorer or another internet browser; network monitoring software; Microsoft Visio; and packet analyzer software.
  • Use standard office equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.

  • Experience with video solutions using SIP.
  • Experience with wireless network configuration.
