The Opportunity
As Flock scales up its next-generation products, there is a growing need to expand our testing infrastructure to focus more on power and performance benchmarking. Our products must be optimized to scale effectively and meet customer expectations. This role will extend the Systems team’s capabilities by supporting the buildout of essential E2E tests for benchmarking the performance, power, and reliability of our products, while also implementing the necessary device-side measurements and self-reporting. Working directly with our Quality Assurance team, this role will ensure that the right tests and automation are in place to detect regressions and identify further improvements to enhance our products.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain end-to-end automated test suites to benchmark power, performance, and reliability.
Instrument software to capture and analyze performance and power measurement points.
Implement device-side measurements to track power consumption and resource usage.
Identify and debug performance bottlenecks across software and hardware layers.
Design and deploy real-time dashboards using Grafana for monitoring key performance and power metrics.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize power consumption and resource usage in embedded systems.
Manage and integrate test automation within CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins.
Qualifications
Proficiency in C, Python, Kotlin, and SQL.
Solid experience in Android application development and embedded systems.
Expertise with performance and power analysis tools such as Android Studio Profiler, Systrace, Perfetto, and Battery Historian.
Experience with debugging and troubleshooting performance issues, including profiling resource usage and system bottlenecks.
Knowledge of version control and code collaboration tools such as Git/GitHub and Gerrit.
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and integrating tests into CI pipelines.
Experience in creating and maintaining test infrastructure in a lab environment.
Familiarity with lab equipment like multimeters and oscilloscopes for validating measurement accuracy.
Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay; we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.
