Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Technical trade school training, an associate degree, or equivalent education in HVAC, mechanical systems, building engineering, facilities maintenance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Three to five years of experience in industrial, laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, or commercial facilities maintenance is required.
  • Three to five years of hands-on HVAC experience supporting commercial and industrial building systems is preferred.
  • Experience working with Building Management Systems is required.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including standing, walking, sitting, fine motor tasks, visual assessment, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25–50 pounds, reaching, bending, stooping, repetitive hand and wrist movements, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards in a laboratory environment that may involve biological materials, chemicals, and specialized equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Manage ticket queues and assign tasks based on priority as needed.
  • Oversee facilities projects to improve building reliability and functionality.
  • Triage and respond to tickets and projects, identify and solve problems, and restore laboratory functionality quickly.
  • Maintain master equipment records and ensure facilities documentation follows Good Documentation Practice.
  • Support cross-functional projects with equipment, quality, laboratory personnel, and information technology teams.
  • Provide access and supervision to external vendors during service or maintenance visits, ensuring safety protocols are followed and work meets standards.
  • Communicate with vendors about repair and maintenance scheduling for critical building systems.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of building systems and interact with service representatives as needed.
  • Conduct regular laboratory and building inspections to verify equipment function, identify deficiencies, and ensure spaces are maintained.
  • Keep teams, departments, and stakeholders informed about affected system status.
  • Ensure the team follows all documents and procedures.
  • Oversee after-hours on-call scheduling and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs on HVAC, water, fire suppression, and common-area systems.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.
  • Move and install equipment, including refrigeration, building support equipment, and laboratory instruments.
  • Monitor laboratory environmental monitoring systems, proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues to maintain optimal conditions, and escalate issues as needed.
