- A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

- The ability to change activities and directions quickly and respond to varied assignments and changing business needs is required.
- The role requires lifting and carrying 31–50 pounds and lifting up to 50 pounds overhead with assistance; frequent sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods; occasional squatting, bending, stooping, pushing, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive motion; and working in freezer temperatures ranging from -20°C to -196°C.
- The ability to read, write, speak fluently, and comprehend English is required.
- Monitor freezers, refrigerators, and room temperatures as assigned, and respond to freezer alarms according to standard operating procedures.
- Unpack biological specimens and record pertinent information in the Incoming Shipment Batch and incoming folder; create a folder for associated paperwork; store specimens at the appropriate temperature according to procedures; and distribute shipment receipt confirmation forms when required by the project.
- Verify supplies against packing lists and quarantine raw materials for release by the Quality Assurance department.
- Check sample-vial information against information provided by study sites, scan samples into the BSI data management system, correct paperwork as needed, notify a supervisor or manager of discrepancies by generating a discrepancy report, assist with inventory of returned specimens, and aliquot frozen specimens using aseptic technique.
- Retrieve samples according to requisitions, standard operating procedures, and instructions; perform quality-control verification of outgoing samples; and update the Outgoing Batch Record.
- Contact receiving laboratories before shipment to confirm shipping addresses and recipient availability, then ship dangerous and non-dangerous goods by commercial or local courier.
- Complete required paperwork, including link-up forms, aliquot forms, return forms, BSI data-collection sheets, and other necessary forms.
- Label vials and shipping boxes, perform dry-shipper quality control, and maintain current knowledge of International Air Transport Association shipping regulations while maintaining required certification and standards.
- Carry out other assigned duties and projects.
- One year of relevant laboratory experience is preferred.
- Basic laboratory skills are preferred.
- Training in aseptic technique is preferred.
