Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in design engineering in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards is required.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management and Enterprise Resource Planning systems, such as Infor or SAP, is required.
  • The ability to simplify complex problems, conduct root cause analysis, and provide clear, well-thought-out recommendations is required.
  • Team-oriented leadership skills and a proactive approach are required.
  • The ability to communicate openly and authentically in all situations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design simple to complex package systems, including pumps, fittings, piping, valves, and control systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations with minimal supervision.
  • Apply design-for-assembly principles and cost considerations throughout the design process.
  • Create mechanical models and computer-aided design drawings for new products and maintain existing product designs.
  • Prepare detailed, production-quality computer-aided design drawings and review them for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform thermal analysis using finite element analysis and/or computational fluid dynamics analysis to optimize package-system performance.
  • Apply appropriate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing within component drawings based on the assembly and controlling key design aspects.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups for subassemblies and assemblies.
  • Contribute to Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and other product-related analyses.
  • Participate in and lead detailed design reviews for new components and product launches.
  • Work closely with cross-functional product, quality, and manufacturing teams to address design challenges and resolve issues.
  • Lead technical discussions among the value stream and community.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary product certifications.
  • Engage with sales and customer service teams to understand and address customer-driven needs.
  • Maintain bills of materials and drawings in the Product Lifecycle Management system.
  • Provide input on process improvements, including opportunities to enhance documentation practices and design efficiency.
  • Liaise with testing and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Develop and adhere to internal and global design standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience with centrifugal pump design and manufacturing.
  • Experience designing pumping packages.
  • Experience designing electromechanical systems and controls.
  • Familiarity with scripting, such as Python, SolidWorks application programming interfaces, macros, and other design or development automation techniques.
