Swiggy Q2 results: loss rises to Rs 922 crore as revenue jumps 36%.

Swiggy Q2 results: loss rises to Rs 922 crore as revenue jumps 36%. Swiggy reports a Q2 FY27 net loss of Rs 922 crore as expenses rise, while revenue grows 36.1% and food delivery profitability hits a record high. Published on: 23 Oct 2026 12:30 AM Swiggy reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 922 crore for the September quarter of FY27, up from Rs 791 crore in the previous quarter. However, the loss was lower than the Rs 1,092 crore recorded in the same quarter last year. The food delivery and quick-commerce company's revenue from operations grew 36.1% year-on-year to Rs 7,571 crore, even as rising expenses and Instamart's expansion continued to put pressure on its overall financial performance. Why did Swiggy's loss increase? Swiggy's latest results show a mixed picture. The company is earning more revenue, but its spending remains high. Its consolidated net loss increased by Rs 131 crore compared with the June quarter, moving from Rs 791 crore to Rs 922 crore. The year-on-year comparison, however, tells a different story. Swiggy's loss narrowed from Rs 1,092 crore in Q2 FY26 to Rs 922 crore in Q2 FY27. This means the company reported a smaller loss than it did a year earlier, despite the increase from the previous quarter. Total expenses rose to Rs 8,703 crore from Rs 6,711 crore in the same period last year. The figures were disclosed in the company's stock exchange filing. The challenge for Swiggy is to keep growing its business while controlling costs. Its different segments are moving at different speeds, with food delivery showing stronger profitability and quick commerce continuing to spend heavily on expansion. Revenue crosses Rs 7,500 crore. Swiggy's revenue from operations reached Rs 7,571 crore during Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 5,620 crore a year earlier. That represents a 36.1% year-on-year increase. Growth across food delivery, quick commerce and out-of-home consumption helped lift revenue. These businesses serve different customer needs, from ordering meals to buying everyday essentials and discovering places to eat outside the home. Higher revenue is an encouraging sign for the company. But revenue growth alone does not mean a business is profitable. Swiggy must also manage delivery costs, operating expenses and the money it spends to attract customers and expand its services. The latest results show why investors may look at individual business segments rather than judging the company on revenue alone. Food delivery reaches a profitability milestone. Swiggy's core food delivery business delivered one of the strongest performances in the quarter. Its gross order value (GOV), which measures the value of orders placed through the platform, increased 17.7% year-on-year to Rs 10,054 crore. Adjusted EBITDA improved by Rs 101 crore to Rs 341 crore. Adjusted EBITDA is a measure of operating performance before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, with certain adjustments. The segment's adjusted EBITDA margin reached 3.4% of GOV. According to the reported results, this was the highest-ever profitability and margin performance for Swiggy's food delivery business. This matters because a stronger margin means the segment is generating better operating returns relative to the value of orders. If this performance continues, food delivery could become an increasingly important contributor to Swiggy's overall financial health. Instamart expands, but losses remain high. Quick-commerce business Instamart continued to grow, but its expansion came with a substantial cost. Its net order value (NOV) rose 31.4% year-on-year and 13.4% compared with the previous quarter, reaching Rs 6,954 crore. Instamart added 69 dark stores during the quarter, taking its total network to 1,240 stores across India. Dark stores are facilities used to store products and prepare orders for quick delivery. A larger network can help a company serve more neighbourhoods and handle more orders. However, Instamart reported a loss of Rs 895 crore for the quarter. Its contribution margin improved by 157 basis points year-on-year to minus 1% of GOV, although it declined by 82 basis points sequentially. Its adjusted EBITDA margin improved slightly to minus 9.7%, compared with minus 9.8% in the previous quarter. These numbers show the trade-off Swiggy faces. Expanding quickly can bring more customers and orders, but new stores and operations also add costs. Instamart will need to improve its margins as it grows. Out-of-Home business keeps growing. Swiggy's out-of-home consumption business also recorded healthy growth. Its GOV increased 34.9% year-on-year to Rs 1,508 crore. The segment remained profitable for the seventh consecutive quarter. Its adjusted EBITDA margin stood at 0.5% of GOV. Although this business is smaller than food delivery and Instamart, its continued profitability adds another positive element to Swiggy's results. It also shows that growth is not limited to online meal delivery and quick-commerce orders. What do Swiggy's Q2 results mean? Swiggy's September-quarter results present two sides of its business. Revenue is rising, food delivery has reached a record profitability level, and out-of-home consumption continues to deliver profits. At the same time, the overall loss increased from the previous quarter, while Instamart's expansion remains expensive. The next challenge will be turning business growth into more consistent company-wide financial improvement. Investors and market watchers will likely keep an eye on revenue, operating costs, food delivery margins and Instamart's path towards better profitability. For now, Swiggy's latest numbers show a growing business that is making progress in some areas but still has significant costs to manage.

Swiggy Q2FY27 loss narrows 16% to Rs 922 crore as revenue jumps 36%, but Instamart losses widen.

Swiggy Q2FY27 loss narrows 16% to Rs 922 crore as revenue jumps 36%, but Instamart losses widen. 22 Oct 2026 17:48 IST Bengaluru-based food delivery and quick commerce company Swiggy has reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 922 crore for the September quarter of FY27, 16% lower than the Rs 1,092 crore loss it posted a year earlier, as revenue from operations rose about 36% to Rs 7,571 crore. The loss widened by about 17% from Rs 791 crore in the June quarter, as Swiggy spent more on growing Instamart and on newer bets such as its budget food app Toing. Revenue rose about 11% sequentially from Rs 6,812 crore. Including other income of Rs 212 crore, up from Rs 59 crore a year ago, total income stood at Rs 7,783 crore. Total expenses rose about 30% year-on-year to Rs 8,703 crore. For the first half of FY27, Swiggy's net loss came to Rs 1,713 crore, down roughly 25% from Rs 2,289 crore in the same period last year, on revenue of Rs 14,383 crore. Where the money went. Delivery and related charges were the largest operating cost at Rs 1,895 crore, up about 33% from a year ago. Advertising and sales promotion spending rose about 25% to Rs 1,298 crore, and purchases of stock-in-trade rose to Rs 3,607 crore from Rs 2,330 crore. Employee benefits expense fell slightly to Rs 676 crore from Rs 690 crore. The supply chain and distribution segment remained the largest source of revenue at Rs 3,690 crore, up 44.1% year-on-year. On an adjusted basis, which excludes items such as other income, share-based payments and lease rentals, Swiggy's consolidated adjusted EBITDA loss widened to Rs 760 crore from Rs 695 crore a year earlier and Rs 651 crore in the June quarter, according to its shareholders' letter. The company's headline figure of Rs 7,909 crore in "consolidated adjusted revenue", up 33.8%, adds user delivery charges and user fees to reported revenue. Food delivery posts its best quarter. Food delivery revenue rose about 22% year-on-year to Rs 2,338 crore. Gross order value (GOV) grew 17.7% to Rs 10,054 crore, and monthly transacting users rose 15.2% to 19.8 million. The segment recorded its highest-ever adjusted EBITDA of Rs 341 crore, up from Rs 240 crore a year ago, with the margin rising 58 basis points to 3.4% of GOV. Swiggy said its take rate climbed to a record 26.1%, driven by advertising, while shorter-distance orders through its Bolt and 99-Store offerings, now more than 25% of food delivery volumes, lowered delivery costs. It said growth crossed 20% in September and kept its full-year food delivery GOV growth guidance of 18-20%, excluding Toing. "Our Food delivery business delivered its highest ever profits and margins while we continue to unlock new category growth through Toing, our standalone offering for affordable meals," Sriharsha Majety, MD and Group CEO of Swiggy, said. Toing now operates in more than 50 cities. Swiggy said two out of three of its new users are either new to Swiggy or had been dormant for a long time, and that Toing's success could lift combined food delivery growth to 25-30%. Instamart grows faster, but loses more. Instamart's revenue rose about 33% year-on-year to Rs 1,306 crore and about 6% from the June quarter. Its segment loss widened to Rs 764 crore from Rs 739 crore a year ago and Rs 651 crore in the previous quarter. Quick commerce GOV rose 31.4% year-on-year to Rs 9,230 crore, while net order value, which deducts discounts, grew 13.4% sequentially to Rs 6,594 crore. Orders rose 29.3% to 130 million, and the business added 1.3 million monthly users to reach 14.8 million. Swiggy added 69 net dark stores in the quarter, as many as in the previous three quarters combined, taking its network to 1,240 stores across 133 cities. Contribution margin slipped to -1.0% of GOV from the June quarter, and Instamart's adjusted EBITDA loss rose to Rs 895 crore from Rs 778 crore. The company attributed this to targeted pricing to reactivate dormant users, a shift in user mix, and costs of new stores that are not yet fully utilised. "We believe the Adjusted EBITDA losses to have peaked out in Q2FY27," Swiggy wrote in its shareholders' letter. It expects Instamart's adjusted EBITDA margin to improve by about 100 basis points in the December quarter, and said break-even would need about 2.3 times today's scale, or Rs 60,000 crore of annualised net order value. The company also warned that competition in quick commerce remains intense and is unlikely to ease soon, with large e-commerce companies active through the festive season. Ownership change and asset sales. Shareholders approved a cap of 49.5% on foreign shareholding, on a fully diluted basis, so that Swiggy can qualify as an Indian owned and controlled company. Swiggy said domestic ownership has since risen above 58%. The change will allow Instamart to hold its own inventory. The transition is expected to start in the middle of the December quarter and take two to three quarters, adding about 80 basis points to Instamart's contribution margin. In September, Swiggy agreed to sell Lynks Logistics, its B2B distribution business, to Trustroot Internet, the parent of Udaan, for about Rs 500 crore paid in preference shares. Along with a separate Rs 75 crore investment, this will give Swiggy roughly a 3.2% stake in Udaan. Lynks was deconsolidated from 15 September. There was also a change at the top of Instamart. Amitesh Kumar Jha resigned as CEO of Instamart with effect from 28 July, and Nandita Sinha took over on 3 August, the results filing showed. How it compares with Eternal. Rival Eternal, the parent of Zomato and Blinkit, reported a net profit of Rs 125 crore for the same quarter on Wednesday, on revenue of Rs 24,138 crore. Blinkit posted an adjusted EBITDA profit of Rs 184 crore, and its store count reached 2,751, more than twice Instamart's network. Zomato's food delivery net order value grew 21.5% year-on-year. Swiggy ended the September quarter with a consolidated cash balance of Rs 13,662 crore, after a cash burn of Rs 708 crore in the quarter. At its first Capital Markets Day on 6 August, the company set a long-term goal of Rs 10,000 crore in adjusted EBITDA by FY31, on GOV of more than Rs 2.5 lakh crore.

Orders per store per day rose 9.5% to about 1,200, a record. Losses remain high. Swiggy guided quick commerce contribution margin at 0% to -100%, and expects competition to stay intense. Swiggy is also testing "Toing," a value food format. Early signs are positive for repeat users, but chief financial officer Rahul Bothra said it needs "another quarter or two" to judge.
