Requirements
  • A B.S. degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering, or a four-year degree in Construction or Environmental Management, with 7 or more years of related experience including at least 3 years as a Superintendent; alternatively, 10 or more years of direct field experience in wastewater construction as a supervisor including at least 5 years as a Superintendent.
  • Experience in wastewater construction involving treatment plants, distribution systems, pump stations, mechanical systems, and instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience as a supervisor on projects valued at least $10 million is preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work independently, maintain attention to detail, stay organized, and follow through effectively.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, process documents accurately, and complete duties in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with electronic document access and construction management software.
  • Proficiency in interpreting plans and specifications and developing construction schedules.
  • A valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for field operations on wastewater projects, including treatment plants, distribution systems, pump stations, mechanical systems, and instrumentation and control systems, ensuring completion safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Report to the regional General Superintendent and work with other superintendents when additional shifts or specialty work are required.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager to fulfill contractual commitments and uphold company objectives.
  • Oversee one or more projects concurrently according to the size and scope of work.
  • Take responsibility for overall job safety under the SSHASP for assigned projects.
  • Ensure projects meet or exceed OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including AHA reviews, Toolbox Talks, and other leading indicators.
  • Prepare and present Toolbox Talks and Safety Huddles.
  • Enter daily safety reports into systems such as Procore.
  • Review Arrowsight footage and corrective action plans.
  • Conduct safety leadership walks with safety personnel and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote safety across the project, including among subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Verify Miss Utility One Call Center requests are completed before ground-disturbing work.
  • Ensure test holes and other methods are used to prevent utility incidents.
  • Report utility-line incidents to the Project Manager.
  • Lead Safety Stand-Downs and assist with root-cause investigations of incidents and injuries.
  • Maintain housekeeping and orderly storage of materials and equipment throughout the jobsite.
  • Enter daily timesheets for each work shift into Heavy Job software.
  • Verify the accuracy of crew timesheets and equipment records.
  • Read and use HeavyBid reports to support budget control and participate in cost projections with the Project Manager.
  • Select and use resources efficiently to support project outcomes.
  • Meet daily with General Foremen and Foremen to review schedules and coordination.
  • Lead development of weekly project look-ahead schedules and ensure alignment with the approved baseline CPM schedule.
  • Coordinate work with subcontractors, vendors, utility providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Schedule labor and equipment with the General Superintendent and Shop Dispatcher for the following day.
  • Submit weekly rolling two-week look-ahead schedules to the General Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Participate in problem-solving and value-engineering planning.
  • Plan and provide final review of work packages with Project Engineers for field use.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with the Owner, project partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Meet with the Project Manager and Project Engineers to coordinate upcoming work, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Understand bid assumptions and communicate production outcomes to foremen.
  • Coordinate with Project Engineers to ensure conformance with contract documents.
  • Coordinate special inspections with the project team and third-party vendors.
  • Ensure field operations use the latest revisions of contract documents.
  • Participate in regular SWPPP inspections and complete corrective actions.
  • Implement corrective actions for nonconforming work.
  • Ensure accountability for quality throughout the project.
