Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal or applicable type) is required.
  • Ability to read electrical one-lines, electrical panel schedules, original equipment manufacturer documentation, and Method of Procedure and Standard Operating Procedure documents is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to work in live critical environments is required.
  • Willingness to travel to support the service region is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in raised-floor environments, rooftops, and equipment rooms is required.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and on-call rotations is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on data center mechanical and electrical systems, including low-voltage and medium-voltage switchgear, power distribution units, automatic transfer switches, remote power panels, battery systems, rectifiers, inverters, uninterruptible power supply systems, general building electrical systems, and variable frequency drives.
  • Execute work through the field management system using approved Method of Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and change-management processes.
  • Maintain system redundancy and awareness of upstream and downstream impacts.
  • Respond to alarms, degraded performance, and emergency service calls according to service-level agreements.
  • Document all work, readings, inspections, and system conditions accurately.
  • Follow strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, site rules, and confined-space procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Complete required company and data-center-specific training through the Upchurch University Learning Management System mission-critical program.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and basic corrective-maintenance tasks under supervision at Level I.
  • Troubleshoot alarms, performance degradation, and control issues and execute approved procedures with limited oversight at Level II.
  • Coordinate with controls, mechanical, and operations teams at Level II.
  • Support outage planning and maintenance-window execution at Level II.
  • Serve as the technical authority for assigned mechanical systems at Level III.
  • Lead execution of complex Method of Procedures, outages, and recovery procedures at Level III.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and root-cause analysis at Level III.
  • Review and improve Standard Operating Procedures, preventive-maintenance scopes, and maintenance strategies at Level III.
  • Mentor Level I and II technicians at Level III.
  • Interface directly with client operations and service management at Level III.
  • Support condition-based and predictive maintenance programs at Level III.
  • Identify risk, reliability gaps, and lifecycle improvement opportunities at Level III.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technical or vocational training is preferred.
  • Prior data center, industrial, or critical-facility exposure is preferred for Level II.
  • Medium-voltage switchgear experience is preferred.
  • Uninterruptible power supply and battery service experience is preferred.
  • Building Automation System, Building Management System, and Electrical Power Monitoring System familiarity is preferred.
  • Original equipment manufacturer certifications are preferred.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10- or 30-hour training is preferred.
  • Experience in data centers, hospitals, or industrial facilities is preferred.
