Planned Parenthood set to host free Community Resource Fair with Triangle Park Community Center in Jersey City on Aug. 21. All ages welcome for an afternoon of care featuring free food, services, resources, essentials, family fun, and more. Everyone is welcome, and everything is 100% free. Community members can walk in for health screenings, vaccines, back-to-school supplies, menstrual and hygiene products, nutrition education and help enrolling in insurance. Free food and family activities will be available throughout the afternoon, including a facilitated discussion on Black men's sexual health and wellness. The event is made possible in partnership with The Bethune Center, the City of Jersey City, Deliverance Children's Ministry, the Anti-Violence Coalition, and Alliance Community Healthcare. Breaking: Planned Parenthood PERMANENTLY closes ALBUQUERQUE abortion facility just months after reopening. Despite taxpayer support, another Albuquerque abortion facility closes amid broader industry consolidation. By Bud Shaver, ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM) has documented the permanent closure of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains' Northeast Heights location in Albuquerque after the AFNM team photographed a closure notice posted at the facility. The closure comes just months after AFNM reported that the location had reopened and resumed offering abortion services. The notice obtained by the Abortion Free New Mexico team states plainly: "THIS HEALTH CENTER IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED." According to the notice, services at the location were moved to Planned Parenthood's Eubank Health Center as of July 13. The development is particularly significant because on April 9, 2026, AFNM reported that Planned Parenthood had reopened the Northeast Heights location and was once again offering abortion services there. The Planned Parenthood closure follows another recent abortion-facility consolidation documented by AFNM in Albuquerque. In July, AFNM reported that Alamo Women's Clinic had closed its separate Montgomery Boulevard location and consolidated operations with Southwestern Women's Options on Lomas Boulevard. Now Planned Parenthood has similarly closed its Northeast Heights location and redirected services to its Eubank facility. For years, New Mexico's political leadership has enacted policies designed to expand abortion access, including using state Medicaid dollars to pay for abortions. Yet New Mexico abortion facilities are still consolidating and closing. Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico responded to the closure: "New Mexico's political leaders have gone all-in on abortion - using taxpayer dollars and government policy to prop up the industry. Yet despite those efforts, abortion facilities are consolidating and closing around us. This closure is great news and proof that the abortion industry is not invincible." New Mexico taxpayers continue funding abortion. The closure comes despite New Mexico maintaining some of the nation's most permissive abortion policies. New Mexico Medicaid pays for abortion using state taxpayer dollars, and AFNM has previously investigated millions of dollars in Medicaid expenditures associated with abortion. State leaders have also committed public resources toward expanding abortion infrastructure and access as New Mexico has increasingly become a destination for women traveling from other states for abortions. AFNM Executive Director Bud Shaver said the latest closure should prompt lawmakers and taxpayers to reconsider the direction of state policy: "Despite New Mexico leaders pouring taxpayer money into abortion and using government policy to prop up the industry, abortion facilities are still consolidating and closing. More Americans are identifying as pro-life, while the abortion industry faces mounting legal, financial and operational pressure nationwide. New Mexico's leaders cannot prop up a failing industry forever. Taxpayer resources should support mothers, children and life-affirming alternatives - not abortion." - Bud Shaver, Executive Director, Abortion Free New Mexico Planned Parenthood faces $1.8 billion Medicaid fraud lawsuit. The Albuquerque closure also comes amid significant legal pressure facing Planned Parenthood nationally. In August 2026, the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled against Planned Parenthood allowing a lawsuit seeking approximately $1.8 billion from Planned Parenthood over disputed Medicaid reimbursements to move forward. The lawsuit alleges Planned Parenthood improperly retained Medicaid payments after Texas and Louisiana moved to terminate the organization as a Medicaid provider. Planned Parenthood disputes the allegations. The ruling does not mean Planned Parenthood has been ordered to pay $1.8 billion. Rather, the litigation seeking those damages is proceeding. The combination of mounting legal pressure nationally and facility consolidation locally raises an important question for New Mexico policymakers and taxpayers: Are New Mexico Democrats using your tax dollars to offset federal efforts to defund the abortion industry? And how much longer will New Mexico taxpayers be forced to prop up a failing industry? AFNM: every closure matters. While AFNM celebrates the permanent closure, Planned Parenthood's notice makes clear that abortion services have been redirected to its Eubank location. The closure therefore represents progress - not the end of its work. Tara Shaver concluded: "We have prayed and worked for abortion facilities to close in New Mexico for years. Every closure matters. But as long as abortions continue in our state, we will continue showing up, exposing what is happening, offering women real help and working toward an Abortion Free New Mexico where every pre-born child is valued and protected." Abortion Free New Mexico will continue independently monitoring abortion facilities throughout the state and documenting closures, consolidations, taxpayer funding, and changes in abortion services. Its sidewalk team will also continue to be present on the ground, offering compassionate outreach, resources, and support to women and families outside Albuquerque abortion facilities.
