This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a Harnessing and Avionics Process Engineer you will be part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of professionals, responsible for defining rocket engine and vehicle harnessing and avionics assembly processes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and define harnessing build, test and assembly processes.
- Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware
- Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing processes for harnesses and avionics components: fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment
- Closely manage build sequence, cost, quality and schedule of hardware every day during the assembly process.
- When non-conformances and escapes are identified, deploy recovery strategies, perform root cause analyses and manage corrective actions
- Handle hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process
- Conduct reviews for major harness and avionics assemblies prior to movement between work centers and facilities, and capture lessons learned
- Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight
- Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test
- Perform engineering drawing reviews and provide final approval for manufacturing
- Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure that hardware and equipment is manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered accurately, on time, and on budget
- Support company-wide initiatives and long-term business goals
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university (Master of Science preferred)
- 3-5 years of direct harnessing or avionics assembly in support of aerospace vehicles.
- Solid understanding of J-STD-001, IPC-620 and IPC-610 standards
- Experienced in applying commercial and military specifications and standards related to PWA, CCA, cables and harness.
- Proven experience and successful track record developing/starting new manufacturing processes
- Strong intuition and judgement when faced with ambiguity and the need to make high velocity decisions
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization
