  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Health Science, or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience with implementation and support for healthcare applications is required.
  • The ability to work independently and sustain multiple simultaneous complex projects is required.
  • Experience with Meditech and/or a healthcare electronic medical record system is highly preferred.
  • A Project Management Professional certification and current Alabama state licensure in a healthcare-related field are preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make formal presentations, are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and management abilities are required to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel.
  • Expert personal computer skills and experience with applications implementation and project planning, with a high level of knowledge of Information Technology and healthcare systems and processes, are required.
  • The ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English is required.
  • A valid Alabama driver's license and the ability to travel to all Health System facilities are required.
  • The ability to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement plans for information systems that effectively and economically meet current and anticipated future user demands, providing leadership throughout assessment, analysis, implementation, support, and project management.
  • Recommend software solutions based on user requirements, organizational strategic objectives, and DCH and healthcare industry standards.
  • Implement new applications and perform ongoing system enhancements, user support, file maintenance, testing, system monitoring, problem resolution, system configuration, and systems validation.
  • Prepare application documentation, including build documentation, standard operating procedures, onboarding checklists, and policies.
  • Define core competencies, ongoing training, and professional development for Applications Team staff.
  • Maintain an efficient work environment, maintain fiscal responsibility, and manage the departmental budget.
  • Manage resources for major and minor application projects, project management, and application support, optimization, and deployment.
  • Serve as a management resource for Information Technology tasks and projects.
  • Participate in Information Technology budget and resource planning and serve as a resource to Information Technology customers.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as needed.
  • Manage staffing to meet implementation requirements, budgets, and productivity; hire, evaluate, counsel, mentor, schedule, discipline, and terminate staff.
  • Develop processes to oversee and maintain the quality of Information Technology services.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with Information Technology management, staff, and operational leaders.
  • Maintain performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Perform compliance requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook and adhere to DCH Behavioral Standards and Health System policies and procedures.
  • Perform essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors, and employees, and identify and reduce unsafe practices and risks.
  • Use electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the intranet.
  • Coordinate or lead others, delegate to team members, address conflict, communicate with internal and external personnel, and remain responsible for outcomes and results.
  • Maintain physical presence onsite and provide extended work hours and on-call coverage as needed.
  • Perform physical activities including talking, hearing, bending, twisting, walking, running, kneeling, crouching, stooping, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, repetitive motion, standing, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Travel to all Health System facilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • Five years of supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Meditech and/or a healthcare electronic medical record system is highly preferred.
  • A Project Management Professional certification and current Alabama state licensure in a healthcare-related field are preferred.
