Requirements
  • One year of experience in a trauma setting is required.
  • A two-year AMA-accredited School of Radiologic Technology is required.
  • Registration by the ARRT or registry eligibility is required.
  • A Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program license in the specialties practiced is required and must be maintained annually.
  • If currently trained in CT, CT certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Proficiency in cross-sectional anatomy is required.
  • Proficiency with CT scanners, power injectors, venipuncture, and mobile scanners is required, or the ability to be trained to competency and obtain certification within 18 months of completing training is required.
  • The role requires overtime flexibility, on-call and holiday rotation, and the ability to cover at other sites as needed.
  • Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic CT scan procedures for emergency, inpatient, and outpatient populations using ionizing radiation, under the supervision of the Team Leader and/or Assistant Team Leader.
  • Monitor and maintain patient care and safety, including practicing ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
  • Obtain and document necessary patient information and history to perform the appropriate examination.
  • Document information involving IV or oral contrast in the medical record and obtain accurate allergy information.
  • Perform CT examinations accurately.
  • Begin and complete examinations using the RIS accurately.
  • Use the CT work list accurately, including verifying patient demographics and accession numbers.
  • Quality-check examinations using the PACS system.
  • Evaluate images for diagnostic purposes, recognize anatomy and pathology, and determine when additional scans are needed.
  • Follow department clinical protocols and standards, including post-processing.
  • Contribute to the team approach to patient care and participate in on-call and holiday rotation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and colleagues.
  • Participate in departmental and interdepartmental quality-improvement activities.
  • Complete mandatory education.
  • Comply with Lahey Clinic policies and behavioral expectations, and incorporate its guiding principles, mission, and goals into daily activities.
  • Meet customer needs and adhere to customer-service standards.
  • Transport patients or items as needed.
  • Orient new staff and help train students.
  • Assist receptionists with heavy telephone traffic as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed or directed to meet department needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a trauma center is preferred.
  • Prior experience with RIS/PACS is preferred.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
