About the job
- Undertake PHE (Plumbing) and Fire Protection system design to local and international standards, including Canada, Middle East, and UK regions.
- Understand and apply Canada, British, European, Middle East, and AtkinsRéalis standards.
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with prior experience in plumbing and fire protection design within a design consultancy environment.
- Work toward Professional registration, including Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or Incorporated Engineer status, or demonstrate progression toward chartership.
- Handle Revit and plumbing/fire protection systems design concurrently, with proficiency in hydraulic calculation software such as HydraCALC, SprinkCALC, and HASS.
- Have thorough knowledge of plumbing design calculations, including water supply, drainage, and pump sizing according to relevant codes and standards.
- Have 10 to 13 years of relevant experience as a Plumbing and Fire Engineer within building services.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience using BS codes, NFC, NPC, LEED, NFPA, FM Global guidelines, CIBSE, UPC, IBC, IPC, and IOP.
- Have experience working in a multi-dimensional environment and understanding coordination and interfaces with other disciplines.
- Have experience on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Be a competent user of information technology tools, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and industry design tools.
- Author technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality and present work in project presentations and meetings.
- Deliver work and integrate with larger project teams.
- Have good report writing skills and experience making presentations and attending meetings with clients.
- Have relevant and appropriate experience as a designer within building services.
- Be a competent designer to BS, NFC, NPC, IPC, CIBSE, and various NFPA standards.
- Have hands-on experience preparing Revit 3D models, reviewing Navisworks files, and managing design delivery using BIM expertise.
- Manage the productivity and quality of deliverables.
- Have a good command of the English language and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Undertake PHE (Plumbing) and Fire Protection system design to local and international standards, including Canada, Middle East, and UK regions.

- Undertake plumbing design elements including domestic cold and hot water services, sanitary and vent systems, and underground drainage.
- Apply knowledge of wet and dry fire protection systems, including their design principles and operational requirements.
- Design Medical Gas and LPG systems in accordance with safety standards and engineering best practices.
- Conduct peer reviews of fire protection system designs and produce technical review reports.
- Complete projects within the team on time and within cost.
- Assist the Team Leader, Senior Engineer, and Engineers in presenting design solutions in meetings with clients and contractors.
- Check personal PHE/Plumbing design deliverables and check designs prepared within the team and other groups in the area of expertise.
- Estimate pricing associated with projects within the area of expertise.
- Liaise with system engineers, third parties, and specialist system suppliers and incorporate their requirements into detailed design.
- Coordinate with Architecture, Civil, MEP, Structural, and other disciplines to improve interdisciplinary working.
- Manage productivity and quality of deliverables.
- Maintain a productive atmosphere by communicating work activities and project status.
- Wider knowledge of other disciplines.
- Membership of IOP, IET, or CIBSE with Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or Incorporated Engineer status, or working toward such status.
- Knowledge of French and willingness to undertake French language training as required.

1%The Society of Professional Engineers and Associates (SPEA) says AtkinsRéalis' strong second-quarter nuclear results underscore the value of engineers driving that growth. The company's nuclear segment generated $671.2 million in revenue, up 18.3% year-over-year, whilst Nuclear Segment Adjusted EBIT rose 20.8% to $77.0 million. AtkinsRéalis raised its full-year 2026 nuclear revenue outlook to approximately $2.7 billion from $2.5 billion. SPEA's collective agreements with Candu Energy, an AtkinsRéalis subsidiary, expire at year-end. SPEA President Mark Chudak said fair agreements must recognise employees' contributions. The results follow Canada's June nuclear strategy, which targets building up to 10 new large-scale reactors and establishing at least four international markets for Canadian reactor technology by 2040.
AtkinsRéalis reported second quarter 2026 revenue of $3.0 billion, up 10% year-over-year, with segment adjusted EBIT increasing 10% to $271.4 million. The engineering services and nuclear company achieved a quarterly record adjusted EBITDA of $292.9 million, up 14%. Diluted earnings per share reached $0.59, whilst adjusted diluted EPS rose 20% to $0.97. The company generated $83.5 million in net cash from operating activities and held a backlog of $20.2 billion at quarter's end. Nuclear revenue grew 18% to $671.2 million, prompting the company to raise its full-year nuclear revenue outlook to approximately $2.7 billion from $2.5 billion. Engineering services regions revenue increased 5% to $2.0 billion. AtkinsRéalis returned $245.0 million to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends during the quarter.
AtkinsRéalis has appointed Amy Bunszel and Bill Ruh to its board of directors, effective 13 July 2026. The appointments aim to strengthen the board's capabilities in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and emerging technologies. Bunszel is executive vice president of Autodesk's Architecture, Engineering and Construction business, overseeing a global software portfolio and a team of more than 2,000 professionals. She has over 25 years of experience leading product and digital transformations. Ruh is a technology executive with more than 35 years of experience in digital transformation. He previously served as CEO of GE Digital and chief digital officer at General Electric, where he led industrial digital transformations and deployed AI and cloud platforms. AtkinsRéalis Group has announced Byron Bright will become President, US, on 1 July 2026, succeeding Steve Morriss, who will continue leading the global Minerals & Metals business until year-end. The company has also been appointed by EDF and Sizewell C Limited to a long-term professional services framework for UK nuclear projects. The appointments reinforce AtkinsRéalis' position in nuclear, transport and infrastructure sectors, supporting a multiyear stream of UK nuclear work. However, analysts note earnings may contract from recent levels, with concerns about margin sustainability and reliance on non-cash earnings.
