Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Maintain current American Heart Association Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Meet one of the following certification criteria: valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography and Computed Tomography, or valid Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board certification in Computed Tomography within twelve months of hire.
  • No prior experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Exercise professional judgment while performing services and maintain conduct consistent with quality patient care.
  • Deliver appropriate care, recognize patient conditions, and ensure successful completion of procedures.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations applicable to each imaging modality.
  • Assess patients’ physical conditions and age-specific needs.
  • Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Perform proper patient identification, obtain clinical history, and accurately document the information.
  • Position the patient, equipment, and associated devices and manipulate technical factors to obtain high-quality images.
  • Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Apply radiation safety principles to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and others.
  • Comply with quality-control standards and participate in quality-control tasks.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in administering contrast medication with and without power injectors.
  • Perform venipuncture and evaluate intravenous access for prescribed contrast administration.
  • Administer medical aid during adverse reactions to contrast medication and other emergencies.
  • Apply standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Assist in supervising student technologists and training new technologists.
  • Use corporate radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensure the safety of all customers.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with applicable policies and laws.
  • Maintain compliance with Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
  • Keep work areas stocked and organized.
  • Transport patients.
