Motivate operates bikeshare programs in major U.S. cities by partnering with cities and local governments. It designs, runs, and maintains bike-sharing networks, handling docked or dockless bikes, stations, and related services while integrating with public transit. Revenue comes from user memberships, ride fees, and sponsorships. Motivate differentiates itself through municipality-level collaborations, attention to transportation equity (including low-income memberships), and strategic partnerships such as the recent Lyft deal that expands access and improves urban mobility. The company aims to reduce traffic congestion, lower pollution, and provide affordable, equitable urban transportation by scaling sustainable bike-sharing across cities.
