Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, appurtenances, engines, generators, and lines used in steam and heated or processed water distribution.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, float valves, refrigerant lines, and air conditioning systems, using approved recovery equipment and processes.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, appurtenances, and lines handling brines or other secondary refrigerating liquids.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair air compressors, distribution lines, valves, and air-control devices.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair natural and manufactured gas distribution lines, valves, and control devices.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain water filters, softeners, piping, pumps, sinks, toilet bowls, supply lines, water lines, swimming pool chemical equipment, and testing systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans.
  • Perform electrical and control systems work and repair, including circuit diagnostics, tracing, troubleshooting, and maintenance and repair of motor controls and variable frequency drives.
  • Use necessary tools and special equipment to operate, maintain, and repair building systems and equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair fuel oil systems, including piping, pumps, valves, strainers, filters, floats, separators, lines, and controls.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair building automation systems for HVAC, lighting, and other controlled systems, including consoles, data-gathering panels, remote sensors, and indicating devices.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps, grease traps, water closets, urinals, flush valves, angle stops, and piping, including clearing blockages as needed and preventively.
  • Maintain and repair trash, recycling, composting, and baling compactors, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain and repair kitchen equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair life-safety equipment and support testing of life-safety equipment.
  • Control inventory of parts and materials required for building-system maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain equipment rooms and repair equipment to preserve their physical condition and appearance.
  • Perform other work customarily performed by maintenance engineers.
  • Repair and install locks, keys, hardware, and doors and perform related lock duties.

University of San Francisco appoints Brent Blaylock as athletic director

The University of San Francisco has appointed Brent Blaylock as its new Athletic Director, effective immediately. Blaylock most recently served as Executive Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer at Oregon State University. Blaylock brings over 20 years of experience in collegiate and professional sports. At Oregon State, he led day-to-day operations and oversaw philanthropic and revenue generation initiatives whilst supervising several sports programmes including football and men's basketball. Previously, he held various positions at the University of Arizona from 2017 to 2024. Stephanie Shrieve-Hawkins, who served as interim athletic director since October 2025, will return to her role as deputy athletic director for administration and facilities. USF sponsors 14 NCAA Division I programmes competing in the West Coast Conference.
