Requirements
  • Graduation from a Registered Nurse program is required.
  • A California Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Required certifications vary by unit and include Basic Life Support; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support; Pediatric Advanced Life Support; AB508; National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale; Neonatal Resuscitation Program; and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course.
  • Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certifications must be certified by the American Heart Association.
  • All certifications must be active on the effective date of hire or transfer unless otherwise indicated.
  • The role requires compliance with regulatory requirements including Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation, Title 22, California Department of Public Health regulations, and DNV-GL/NIAHO standards.
Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of efficient and smooth unit operations.
  • Support the Chief Nursing Officer and department manager and director in overseeing the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Develop the staff team.
  • Lead quality improvement and growth of unit services.
  • Lead planning and collaboration with co-workers and other departments.
  • Manage efficient services with meaningful and valuable outcomes.
  • Provide leadership in clinical and operational areas, with emphasis on the clinical environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is desired; if not held upon hire, it should be obtained within five years.
  • Completion of a unit supervisor or management training program is preferred.
  • Two or more years of clinical experience in an acute setting is preferred.
  • Six or more months of unit supervisor or charge nurse experience is preferred.
  • For sixth-floor medical-surgical employees, two years of orthopedic and medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred.
  • Certification in medical-surgical, orthopedic, or another specialty is preferred.
  • Certification in a clinical specialty or management is desired.
