It aggregates and curates GIS datasets from utilities and agencies, which are regularly updated and validated by users, and makes them instantly accessible to subscribers. The product works by hosting these datasets securely in the cloud and delivering real-time data to clients (developers, engineers, construction firms, and utility professionals) for tasks like project due diligence, planning, estimating, and drafting. CivilGrid differentiates itself through direct partnerships with utilities and agencies to obtain current GIS data, user-driven data validation, and a tailored experience that accelerates decision-making while reducing drafting and planning time. Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • January 2025 Series A reportedly raised $23 million, extending hiring and product build.
  • April 2026 conference presence across DOTs, counties, and utilities signals active demand generation.
  • A PG&E designer said CivilGrid let him start design work on Day 1.

What critics are saying

  • CivilGrid lacks visible 2026 revenue disclosure, making Series A progress impossible to verify.
  • Competitors can replicate GIS aggregation, crushing margins once utilities standardize data feeds.
  • If utilities revoke access, CivilGrid's core dataset value collapses quickly.

What makes CivilGrid unique

  • CivilGrid centralizes utility, environmental, and geotechnical GIS layers in one platform.
  • June 2026 website and app updates show active product shipping and map workflows.
  • 2012? no, 2022 pre-seed partnerships with California infrastructure owners established data access.
