Uniqlo will open a new 1,700 m^2 store in Madrid: this is the neighborhood chosen by the Japanese company. The real estate firm handling the transaction confirms the Japanese brand's arrival at 56 Princesa Street, as part of the renovation of the Triángulo Princesa complex. October 8, 2026 The Japanese fashion chain Uniqlo is preparing to open a new store in Madrid, this time in the Argüelles neighborhood. The company will occupy the former Holiday Gym location at 56 Princesa Street, with a total area of 1,700 square meters. The deal is listed on the website of TC Gabinete Inmobiliario, the consulting firm responsible for leasing the space, which explicitly identifies Uniqlo as one of the property's new tenants. The news has also been circulating on social media. The urban planning account Madrid Proyecta shared a photo from Madrileno90 hinting at the brand's arrival: "Well, it looks like they're building a new Uniqlo on Princesa, where the old Holiday Gym used to be," placing it next to the local Starbucks. A 1,700-square-meter store in the former Holiday Gym. Uniqlo's arrival is part of a broader transformation of the Triángulo Princesa complex, which was acquired by the Canadian fund Brookfield. According to TC Gabinete Inmobiliario, the renovation of the building has led to the departure of former tenants such as Holiday Gym, Smith, and Bricor, which had occupied part of its retail space for years. New operators will take its place. In addition to the 1,700 m^2 allocated to Uniqlo, the real estate firm identifies the restaurant group La Famiglia se sienta a la mesa, which will occupy another 400 m^2. Although the lease agreement is listed on the real estate agency's website, it remains to be seen when the new store will open its doors.

Uniqlo owner posts record annual profit, expects further growth. Published on 10/08/2026 at 03:10 am EDT By Kosaku Narioka Fast Retailing reported record annual net profit, driven by strong earnings across regions, and projected further profit growth this fiscal year. The Japanese owner of Uniqlo and other clothing brands said Thursday that net profit rose 25% to 542.52 billion yen, equivalent to $3.43 billion, for the 12 months ended August. That beat the estimate of Y510.7 billion in a poll of analysts by data provider Visible Alpha. Annual revenue grew 17% to Y3.963 trillion. For the year that began in September, it projected that revenue to increase 12% to Y4.450 trillion and net profit to climb 3.2% to Y560.00 billion. Uniqlo's North America sales made up 9.2% of the company's total revenue in the latest fiscal year and its Europe business accounted for 13%, compared with 27% for Japan and 18% for the markets of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The U.S. and Europe have become increasingly important regions for Fast Retailing, which is seeking growth beyond Japan and China as part of its diversification strategy. Fast Retailing has set separate annual regional revenue targets of Y1 trillion, or $6.33 billion, for Uniqlo's operations in North America and Europe in about five years. The Japanese owner of Uniqlo has been adding stores in the U.S., Europe and Southeast Asia in recent quarters while reducing the number of locations in China. The apparel retailer is also taking steps to shore up its business in the world's second-largest economy. Fast Retailing said it planned to reopen its Uniqlo flagship store in Shanghai on Oct. 30 and also revamp several stores in the Chinese city this year.
