Requirements
  • A Master's degree in psychology, social work, or another related human services degree is required.
  • One year of experience in mental health or human services is preferred.
  • A valid Colorado driver's license and a recent clean driving record are required.
  • The ability to transport clients in a personal vehicle is required.
  • The ability to obtain and carry business-use coverage on the personal auto policy is required.
  • An LCSW, LPC, or LAC license is preferred.
  • The role requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds, repetitive hand and finger motions, and manual dexterity.
  • The role requires visual and auditory acuity to observe patient behavior and respond to alarms and calls.
  • The role requires the capacity to handle emotionally charged situations and maintain professional boundaries.
  • The role requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills for diagnosis and treatment planning, prioritization of multiple tasks, and adaptation to changing patient needs.
Responsibilities
  • Help clients meet basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, personal safety, and general medical and dental care, and assist with applications for income, medical, housing, and other entitled benefits.
  • Identify clients who may need a protective payee arrangement and arrange that assistance.
  • Arrange transportation to needed services and, when necessary, transport clients in a personal vehicle.
  • Provide comprehensive psychosocial services across high- and low-intensity services to improve or maintain clients' ability to function in normal social roles.
  • Help clients evaluate their strengths and symptoms, set their own goals, and plan appropriate services.
  • Guide and instruct clients in daily living skills, including medication use, diet, exercise, personal hygiene, shopping, cooking, budgeting, housekeeping, transportation, and use of community services.
  • Help clients develop social skills, interests, and leisure activities that support participation and personal worth.
  • Help clients find appropriate employment opportunities, vocational rehabilitation services, or supported work environments.
  • Assist clients in locating rehabilitative or supportive housing arrangements suited to their support needs.
  • Provide support, assistance, consultation, and education to families, friends, landlords, employers, community agencies, and others who interact with clients.
  • Identify and work with natural support systems such as neighborhood networks, churches, and community organizations.
  • Reach out to eligible clients and educate them about available WellPower and community services.
  • Conduct initial assessments.

WellPower opens walk-in clinic for same-day opioid addiction treatment in Denver

WellPower, Colorado's largest community mental health centre, has opened a Medication-Assisted Treatment Walk-In Clinic in Denver to provide immediate, low-barrier care for people experiencing opioid use disorder or withdrawal. The clinic offers same-day support without appointments. The evidence-based model combines peer supporters with lived recovery experience, pharmacists and mental health clinicians. Services include same-day medication for withdrawal symptoms, short-term prescriptions and referrals to ongoing treatment programmes. Located at WellPower's Recovery Centre at 4455 E. 12th Ave., the clinic currently operates Wednesdays from 1:00 to 16:30, with plans to expand hours. The initiative responds to rising overdose deaths in Colorado and Denver. WellPower serves over 22,000 individuals annually across 30 sites and nearly 200 community locations.
