Requirements
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening skills are required.
  • The ability to problem-solve and make ethical and policy-based decisions is required.
  • The ability to teach academic success strategies and work with academically at-risk students is required.
  • Evidence of programming success around academic competencies is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends is required.
Responsibilities
  • Meet with an assigned caseload of students to assist in developing academic skills related to time management, organization, and test preparation.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of training sessions for tutors.
  • Learn and utilize Navigate, ARMS, TeamWorks, TeamWorks Academics, PeopleSoft, UM Data Warehouse, and Compliance Assistant.
  • Coordinate services to proactively address the academic needs of student-athletes, including learning-disability identification and testing and tutoring.
  • Create and update administrative reports, including academic grade reports, study hall reports, and daily reports related to progress and behavior.
  • Assist with educational testing and the process of applying for and monitoring accommodations.
  • Monitor and track student-athlete class assignments, grades, and feedback from professors.
  • Supervise the study hall program.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
