Requirements
  • A Master Electrician license or status is required.
  • A driver's license is required.
  • Knowledge of the safe usage of hand and power tools is required.
  • The ability to estimate job costs in terms of labor and materials is required.
  • Understanding of low voltage and high voltage and their uses is required.
  • The ability to read prints, participate in construction and renovation meetings, work with architects and contractors, and provide excellent customer service is required.
  • The ability to test and accurately record regularly scheduled generator test results, and review generator tests completed by journeyman electricians, is required.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Previous experience in a health care setting is required.
  • The ability to perform the physical and mental tasks associated with the position, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform work assigned by the Facilities Supervisor and/or Director to maintain hospital property and equipment in safe, efficient operating condition.
  • Assist others as needed.
  • Pull electrical permits.
  • Guide and direct journeyman electricians.
  • Participate in project planning, regulatory agency audits, and review completed electrical project work and procedures.
  • Install, clean, repair, remove, and dispose of electrical equipment and property.
  • Perform other duties as assigned on an as-needed basis.
  • Shovel snow at entrances, sidewalks, and the Emergency Department when necessary.
  • Handle major components of DNV documentation.
  • Participate in construction and renovation projects, meetings, and completion within budget and timeframe expectations.
  • Test and accurately record regularly scheduled generator tests and review reports completed by journeyman electricians.
  • Encourage and assist journeyman electricians in obtaining Master Electrician status.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five years of hands-on work in a health care setting, or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Trade and/or technical school certification is preferred.
