Morgan Stanley's Wilson sees S&P 500 at 8,500 by 2027, with $10.5T in client assets set to gain

Morgan Stanley's top stock strategist, Mike Wilson, says the market correction is in its "final innings" and expects conditions to improve within weeks. He told CNBC that investors have already priced in most bad news since June, including AI spending fears, wars, and the upcoming US elections. Wilson sees the S&P 500 reaching 8,500 by mid-2027, about 11.5% above its October 23 close and above the bank's official 8,300 target. A rally would help Morgan Stanley, which earns fees on client assets. Clients hold a record $10.5 trillion with the firm, and its wealth business brought in a record $9.1 billion last quarter. Third-quarter revenue was $20.34 billion, and earnings per share were $3.03, beating the $2.94 consensus.

Morgan Stanley backs Sandisk at $1,750 target after 18% drop wipes $36B

Sandisk shares fell about 18% over two sessions on October 29 and 30, 2026, erasing roughly $36 billion in market value. The drop followed a record fiscal first quarter, with revenue of $11 billion, up 378% from a year earlier. Chief financial officer Luis Visoso said premium and mainstream devices held up, "partially offset by contraction at the lower end." Sales volume in its Edge unit, which sells flash memory to phone and PC makers, fell 20% from a year earlier. Morgan Stanley kept its Overweight rating and $1,750 price target, betting data center demand will offset weaker consumer sales. Consumer and client products fell to 56% of revenue from 90% a year earlier. Sandisk's 8-for-1 stock split takes effect November 20.
