Requirements
  • Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or DVM degree with demonstrated basic, clinical, and/or translational research experience.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidates must have a strong track record of working efficiently independently and as part of a collaborative group.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and participate in original basic or translational research for which extramural funding should be sought.
  • Design and conduct experiments.
  • Collect and interpret data for presentation to and review with the principal investigator.
  • Assist in project planning and timing management.
  • Perform key research projects under the supervision and guidance of the principal investigator and laboratory members.
  • Conduct research on novel gene discovery through reanalysis of undiagnosed rare diseases and evaluation of underlying mechanisms using patient-derived cells and animal models.
  • Study novel omics, including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and interactome, in combination with traditional techniques to decipher mechanisms of rare diseases.
  • Develop and execute innovative research ideas under the close mentorship of the principal investigator.
  • Perform administrative laboratory duties with the laboratory manager and principal investigator.
  • Submit articles for peer-reviewed publications.
  • Present research results at scientific meetings.
