  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Three years of recent clinical experience.
  • Current Tennessee state registered nurse license.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Nurse Manager with delivery of high-quality nursing care and administrative management of the nursing unit.
  • Assist in selecting, training, orienting, developing, and evaluating department staff.
  • Support departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Work with the manager to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, federal and state guidelines, and nursing standards and practices.
  • Maintain operational reports and records and collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Assist with coordination and reporting of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient.
  • Attend meetings and participate on nursing and interdisciplinary committees as assigned by the manager.
  • Establish and maintain communication between the nursing unit, medical staff, and ancillary departments for problem solving and quality improvement.
  • Assist with establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives aligned with facility and system goals.
  • Promote a safe environment that allows delivery of high-quality patient care using evidence-based practices.
  • Protect patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
  • Supervise, institute, and evaluate nursing interventions and documentation.
  • Demonstrate competence in performing critical skills and delivering care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
  • Facilitate professional development of staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by the Nurse Manager or other senior leaders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field, required within three years in the position or by the effective date of the job description.
  • Participation in educational programs, review of current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, and membership in a professional organization.
  • Use Journey to Excellence tactics, including AIDET, bedside shift report, purposeful hourly rounding, careboard completion, and narrating the care, to achieve high customer satisfaction.
