Requirements
  • An MSN as a Nurse Practitioner or an MPA and NCCPA certification as a Physician Assistant in the state of Indiana is required.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Indiana is required.
  • Proficiency in medical instruments and equipment is required.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • DEA registration for schedules II-V is required.
  • Trauma-informed care and de-escalation training are required.
  • The candidate must be at least 21 years old per licensure requirements.
  • The candidate must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • A valid Indiana driver’s license and a driving record that meets the eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier are required for positions requiring driving.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and physical is required.
  • The candidate must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods and occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • The candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must be able to operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard.
  • The candidate must be able to travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation.
  • The candidate must communicate effectively to exchange information.
  • The candidate must recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies, including unpredictable or aggressive behaviors.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure health-related procedures and related policies are followed accurately throughout all program lines within Damar Services, Inc.
  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team and provide and receive clinical and medical information from Damar and Damar-contracted physicians.
  • Maintain on-call availability as needed.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals of all ages at Damar Health Services and on Damar’s residential campus.
  • Use therapeutic skills, including prescribing psychotropic medications, to treat individuals, including those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Provide primary care, medication management, and consultation services to Damar residential and Damar Health Services patients.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
  • Conduct training for health services staff as needed.
  • Establish and maintain clinic hours to meet the needs of Damar’s residential and Damar Health Services patients.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to provide current and effective care to Damar patients.
  • Collaborate with internal and external medical providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Contribute to policy development, quality improvement, and practice evaluation.
  • Ensure clinical outcomes are met.
  • Oversee patient health records and ensure recordkeeping complies with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
  • Maintain adequate and timely documentation of patient health records.
  • Select and use materials, equipment, and staff efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure activities, services, and programs are conducted respectfully toward the cultural and ethnic diversity of Damar patients.
  • Adhere to Damar policies and procedures.

INDIANAPOLIS - Damar Services, Inc., an Indianapolis-based residential services provider for individuals with developmental disabilities, violated federal law when it refused to hire a deaf applicant, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit announced today.
