Viessmann Generations Group

View

Viessmann Generations Group is a family-owned ecosystem that funds and guides green energy and climate solutions through majority investments in market leaders, minority stakes, real assets, and early-stage ventures. Its portfolio focuses on grid infrastructure, district heating and cooling, clean and cold chain solutions, real estate, and regenerative agriculture, plus a philanthropic Viessmann Foundation that supports climate action, health, and education. The group reinvests proceeds from exits, such as the 2023 Carrier merger, to expand its platform and align generations of family leadership with strategic, mission-driven investments. It differentiates itself by combining long-term family ownership with multi-portfolio venture activity and philanthropy to scale sustainable technology and infrastructure for CO2 reduction and resilience.

Viessmann Generations Group takes stake in grid software firm Venios

Viessmann Generations Group has acquired a minority stake in Frankfurt-based software company Venios GmbH, expanding its involvement in digital electricity grid infrastructure. Founded in 2012, Venios employs around 25 people and develops Venios.NET, a software platform that creates a digital twin of electricity networks by integrating meter readings, network data, and master data from various systems. The solution helps grid operators analyse current power distribution, identify potential bottlenecks early, and plan future network expansion through forecasts and simulations. Venios already works with grid operators in Delhi and Zurich. Within VGG's portfolio, Venios's software complements the hardware and infrastructure expertise of GRITEC GmbH, which joined the group in 2024. The investment aims to advance grid digitalisation and support operators transitioning to predictive network management.
