Responsibilities
  • Originate home loans and drive new sales within the available lending territory.
  • Network with internal and external referral partners, including realtors and builders, to build a book of business.
  • Visit Commerce branches within the assigned geography weekly to meet with Commercial Bankers and customers and discuss mortgage products.
  • Manage the production pipeline and collect documentation while coordinating with the fulfillment team.
  • Communicate between borrowers and referral partners.
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, creditworthiness, and property evaluation to determine home-loan eligibility and feasibility.
  • Provide financing options and customize solutions by analyzing applications, credit profiles, and financials and ensuring that options comply with product-type lending and seller guides for FHA, VA, conventional, and HELOC products.
  • Pre-underwrite files by obtaining and analyzing employment, credit, income, assets, and collateral documentation and verifying that documentation meets CMC, investor, and agency standards before submission to operations partners.
  • Adhere to the Commerce Bank Code of Ethics, Do Not Call regulations, privacy and opt-out procedures, HMDA data collection, suspicious activity procedures, adverse action requirements, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Housing Act, Commerce pricing policies, and fair lending policies and procedures.
  • Manage client care for an active pre-funded loan pipeline of up to 20 loans.
  • Manage client care for an active lead pipeline of up to 150 clients using the lead management database and its capabilities.
  • Communicate timely updates and requests to clients in accordance with service-level agreements and compliance regulations, including documentation requests, deadlines, milestones, and decisions.
  • Maintain consistent communication with transaction parties to support timely closing and document client communications, expectations, timelines, next steps, action items, owners, and loan conditions in the lead management and loan origination systems.
  • Provide customer and conversion feedback to leadership, marketing, secondary marketing, and technology teams when requested.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Basic proficiency with Encompass, Blend, Microsoft Office Suite, Optimal Blue, and Total Expert is preferred.

Commerce Bank acquires boutique investment bank Nolan & Associates to expand middle-market advisory services

Commerce Bank has agreed to acquire Nolan & Associates, a St Louis-based boutique investment banking firm founded in 1976. The acquisition will add investment banking capabilities to Commerce's commercial and wealth platforms, enhancing its ability to support middle-market clients during business transitions. Nolan provides sell-side, buy-side, and capital raise advisory services across industries including building products, transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing. Upon closing, the firm will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Commerce Bank, retaining its employees and office. The deal includes Middle-Market Transactions, Inc., a FINRA-regulated entity through which Nolan delivers advisory services. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction requires regulatory approval and is subject to customary closing conditions. Commerce Bancshares holds $35.7 billion in assets and operates throughout the Midwest.
