Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience.
  • A current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I certification.
  • Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification.
  • Understanding of the Proctor Compaction Test and USCS Soil Classification.
  • Trained and demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field, with validation required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate and confidential test records and prepare understandable reports.
  • Computer skills and ability to learn company-specific software and programs.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and comply with company operation and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to pass relevant tests and/or achieve valid signatures.
  • Ability to lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, climb ladders and scaffolding, and maneuver construction sites and excavations.
  • Ability to communicate directly and by telephone in English and comprehend written and verbal communications.
  • A valid state-of-residence driver's license and eligibility for coverage under applicable company insurance policies.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, early mornings, and changing schedules as construction schedules require.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the branch office at all hours when needed.
Responsibilities
  • Review specifications for civil and structural plans and identify sections applicable to the scope of work.
  • Perform tests, general construction inspections, and observations according to project requirements with some supervision.
  • Prepare, collect, and test samples related to soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt.
  • Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections, and field observations.
  • Document and communicate non-conforming items to designated project supervision.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate assigned equipment according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Transport, operate, and care for a nuclear density gauge in accordance with the Radiation Safety Program Policy.
  • Clearly identify, verbally communicate, and document test results and construction activities.
  • Travel daily to construction work sites, generally within 100 miles of the home office, with probable short-term out-of-town assignments and occasional longer assignments.
