Requirements
  • A Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Applicable certification requirements must be met as specified by the department.
  • Knowledge of operational management, organizational development, financial oversight, team leadership, technical proficiency, and pharmacy-related operations is required.
  • Ability to use office software, technology, and relevant computer applications is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop goals, objectives, and programs for the pharmacy department that align with the organization’s overall strategic plan.
  • Adhere to approved departmental policies, professional standards, and state and federal laws.
  • Implement decisions of pharmaceutical, therapeutic, and hospital committees.
  • Define and resolve medication distribution system issues and evaluate performance relative to the need for expansion or revision within the healthcare facility.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative medication delivery and drug therapy monitoring systems.
  • Provide leadership and direction to pharmacy staff.
  • Promote positive customer relations and contribute to a supportive, team-driven departmental work environment.
  • Establish and revise standards of care for pharmacy practices.
  • Plan, support, and lead quality improvement efforts for relevant pharmacy services.
  • Facilitate effective working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, administrators, and other personnel, and support interdisciplinary practices and communications.
  • Serve as a resource to staff, physicians, and patients regarding pharmacy and organizational policies.
  • Manage capital and operational budgets, keep department operations within budget guidelines, and explain significant variances.
  • Ensure that patients receive accurate instructions on new prescriptions and refills.
  • Make recommendations and decisions regarding the hiring, disciplining, and promotion of subordinates.
  • Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of internal controls within the unit and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are trained on internal controls and University policies and procedures.
